Chapter Eight
Sofia Hamilton stood by the water dispenser, pouring a cup of hot water.
Suddenly, her hand slipped.
The cup crashed to the floor with a loud clatter, shattering into pieces.
Shards of glass scattered across the ground, startling her.
In that moment, her heart sank abruptly.
She didn't know why, but her chest felt empty, an inexplicable panic washing over her.
It's as if something terrible had happened.
She clutched at her wildly beating heart, wondering why she felt so distraught.
Hastily, she crouched down to pick up the shards. Carelessly, she sliced her finger—the fresh blood immediately oozed from the wound, shocking her into withdrawing her hand.
When your heart is unsettled, accidents are bound to occur.
Just then, her phone rang.
She quickly stood to pick it up. It was an unfamiliar number. "Is this Miss Hamilton? Ryan… Ryan Gregory has been in an accident!"
"What did you say?"
Her chest tightened, her mind went blank, the world around her froze.
