"You… you're Knox? You… you saved Ariel?" Elizabeth stuttered, disbelief and relief mingling in her voice.
Knox nodded, a calm smile tugging at his lips. "Just like you, she saved herself."
"You… you're not… human," she whispered, her voice barely audible. He nodded again, confirming her wildest suspicions.
"I'm a fairy of wind," he said simply.
"OMG! You're the one she told me about!" Elizabeth exclaimed, voice rising with excitement, though her relief was tempered by lingering fear.
"But…" her voice faltered, then softened. "What do you mean by, 'just like me, she saved herself?'"
Knox chuckled softly. "Why don't you go back home and ask her yourself?"
Elizabeth froze, tears welling in her eyes. "I can't," she admitted, her voice cracking. "I… I can't go back there."
"Why are you crying? Is she dead?" he teased lightly, a faint smile playing on his lips.
