Eumhun's PoV
As Amelia and the rest retreated, I surveyed our surroundings for any possible attackers. Thought it would be quieter without Raiki around, but Amelia and Noel were a handful in their own right. Still, it was nice to see them so relaxed, even if for a brief moment.
I watched as Ailia stared at the stars from on top a tree. The woman didn't talk much, but her presence was calming. She was like a quiet pond, reflecting the sky above.
I turned my attention back to Noel. He was still in the water, trying to connect with the light, his brow furrowed in concentration.
He had yet to radiate light. He was trying, though. I could feel the light within him, a faint, flickering flame. But it was trapped, buried under layers of doubt. What kind of doubts did he have? He was the younger cousin of a famous knight.
He sighed. "I can't."
I walked over to the water's edge. "It's not about trying, Noel. It's about letting go."
