"Well, I also got a different offer," Vadim said, a playful glint dancing in his eyes.
I laughed. "So, you came with a plan B, huh? You know me well to have come up with one. Hope that it involves you surrendering."
He shook his head. "As if! You know as well as I do that neither of us would give up without a fight! That's why I want to have a one on one with you! The winner gets all."
My eyes widened. That was bold offer, but he sure seemed confident. But was that really all there was to it? Vadim was a trickster, but was also a bit of an open book. That contrast made it harder to read the clown. Did he have a trap ready to spring up or was he being honest?
I took a deep breath, wishing to discern his intentions. "How can I trust you? Amelia herself isn't here."
He smiled. "Want to go see her? We can fly over the mountains if you want. She'll give you her word too."
I snickered. "And? Both of you are known to play dirty. I know that's the nature of war, but still."
