Saffron PoV
I stared at Rose as as she walked hand in hand with Anis to the kitchen. She seemed very pensive since this morning.
I sighed. Why did I bring up that my pa was a reckless driver? I should've known that would trigger bad memories. If only I had been part of her life longer. Maybe I could've helped shine some more light into her life. She had her brother, but that single light wasn't enough to keep her from throwing herself off the bridge. But it was enough to make her realize her mistake and try to continue living.
Sighing, I shook my head. That was in the past. There was no changing the past. But Rose had other people in her life now, like Anis and me. Especially me. I wanted to continue being her anchor, to help her navigate through the storms that presisted until those gloomy skies became bright days.
Rose looked over her shoulder and smiled. "Saffron, hurry up. Our Penguin needs her pancakes."
Anis nodded. "Me staving!"
I snickered. "It's starving."
