The sun had set over the city when Auralia and Alexander got to the Ezra mansion on Saturday. Once Alexander had parked his car, the two headed to the front entrance and were greeted by the head butler.
They were shown to one of the living rooms for hosting guests where Maria was sitting, sipping some tea on the couch. She glanced over at the doorway and set her teacup down upon seeing them.
"I'm so glad you two could make it!" Maria exclaimed in joy as she got up from her seat on the couch. "How was the trip?"
"It was good." Alexander answered as he hugged his mother before moving back to Auralia's side. "Is everyone here yet?"
"Your sister's running late as usual. Got held up by some work. And your father's upstairs doing some paperwork." Maria responded with an eye roll before turning her attention to Auralia. "Has everything been well, dear? How's Mrs. Davidson? You visited them earlier this week, right?"
