Outside Sedona City, Elisa was seeing Lucy off. Today, Lucy was leaving. She needed to rush back to the capital with the medicine.
"Lucy, why not stay a few more days? I heard there's a major flood downstream of the Whispering River," Elisa said, trying to persuade her to stay, her pointed ears twitching. The flood was just an excuse. The overland route to the capital was entirely on high ground; both of them knew this.
"I won't stay long this time. Perhaps next time." Lucy shook her head gently. Her father's illness could not be delayed any longer. Regardless of whether the medicine was effective, she had to hurry back and try.
"Will you come back?" Elisa held Lucy's small hand and said softly, "If you can't stay in the capital, come to Sedona City. It's very suitable for retirement."

"Understood." Lucy nodded and walked towards the convoy. As she boarded the carriage, she waved to Elisa, "Go on back now."
She had met Lucas, that handsome Baron. Under his guidance, she had learned the dosage for the medicine, as well as some lifestyle guidelines.
Now she felt that Lucas was really like the male protagonist in a novel—just as multi-talented, just as distinguished in bearing, and just as exceptional.
"Okay, be careful on the road." Elisa stood on her tiptoes, waving and shouting, "If there's an emergency, find the mail courier!"
"I will." Lucy nodded, and Jones set the carriage in motion.
"Clop, clop, clop..."
Elisa quietly watched the departing carriage procession, her eyes flickering. She had a bad feeling. If she weren't temporarily unable to leave Sedona City, she would have insisted on going with Lucy to the capital this time.
She was also worried about Catherine. Fortunately, Dahlia would be arriving in Sedona City in one more day, and then she could ask in detail about the situation.
"Miss Elisa, the City Lord requests your presence," A soldier reported from behind her.

"How strange." Elisa shook her head and paid them no mind. New beastkin coming to Sedona City were always skittish.

"Lord Karl, human knights," A jackal beastkin whispered.
"Not so loud." Karl shot the jackal beastkin a glare. He wasn't blind. He warily watched Elisa and her group enter the city. When he came last time, he didn't see this many people at the city gate, did he?
Karl stared blankly at the thousand people dismantling the city wall. They were actually tearing down the city wall! Had the Lord of Sedona City lost his mind? Or had he become arrogant? Did he think no one would attack Sedona City?
"Lord Karl, what do we do now?" The jackal beastkin asked for instructions.
"Let's go in and scout the place first. Remember, do not reveal my whereabouts," Karl instructed. He had been to Sedona City once before and didn't know if anyone had paid attention to him.
"Yes." The dozen or so beastkin replied.
Just like that, Karl, carrying Santner's instructions, entered Sedona City with his dozen-plus subordinates.
"Wow! So many beastkin are working! And working together with humans, this is incredible!"
"These humans are actually talking and laughing with beastkin. This isn't a dream, is it?"

The dozen beastkin Karl brought all stared in amazement at the beastkin who were building houses. A strange light flickered in the eyes of a few of them.
Life for the beastkin in Blade City was not good. Food was scarce, with one meal eaten and the next uncertain. Their living conditions were also poor. Recently, they had been out pursuing that Swift Wind Thieves, sleeping in the open and eating in the wind. Many beastkin were complaining in private. Now, seeing such a harmonious scene in Sedona City deeply moved the beastkin...
"Huh? Are you beastkin who just arrived in Sedona City?"

"Work?" Karl was stunned. The beastkin were collectively stunned. When did they say they were looking for work?
"It seems so." Max saw the beastkin's astonished expressions and thought he had guessed correctly. He quickly waved them over. "You've come at the perfect time. We have plenty of jobs that need people. You are all beastkin and very strong, which is perfect for helping dig the foundation for the new city wall. The monthly salary is eighty copper coins per person."
"Really? A monthly salary of eighty copper coins?" A pig beastkin immediately asked in amazement.
"Of course. This is because the City Lord pities us common folk. You should know, in other cities, the monthly salary is only fifty or sixty copper coins," Max said with a serious face.
"Okay, count me in! I want to sign up."
