Chapter 449 - Chapter 449: Repairs

The group was quick on leaving her room, with Zazel staying behind so he can help out the three guards with the walls, setting up Eligos to reinforce the structure to ensure their Goddess wouldn't be harmed. Stolas was quick on taking care of the top floors, constellations of Carina made, ships that would be pulled around and stay sturdy, allowing the candy citizens to supply equipment, parts, or materials needed to bring back their houses properly. Envy was quick on taking care of the lower floors, spreading his tar-like body to act as patches for any holes left behind, sealing any cracks and ensuring the structures remain upright. Tsukiya would set up Shikigami and tearing them to summon forth a few small children, as well as a wild man. Because of the nature within Candartha, most of the figures were morphed to candies, specifically small gumdrops and a massive caveman made out of jawbreakers, a club of hard candy on his side. The children were quick on delivering the goods, riding on Carina and steering around to deliver such wares, while also blessing the new buildings with small, gold coins, letting its magic seep into the structures and provde them with some amount of fortune. The wild man, meanwhile, served as a guardian for both the boats that sailed across, and the houses built over.

Harvard and Solomon, meanwhile, were quick on reinforcing the walls and ceiling. Harvard would be experimenting with his monsters, casting a spell to summon their appendages, starting with Sugar, letting its effects sweep through the walls and make it sweeter, sturdier. Next was Caramel, lining it across Sugar to act as personal beams and pillars to bind the two together and make it stronger in the process. Solomon would look over his friend as he'd cast his shadow upwards, letting it spread and act as a platform, weaving and swerving around to ensure they cover every nook and cranny. "Hey... are you ok?" He'd ask, catching Harvard's attention.

"Hmm? 'Bout what?" Harvard asked.

"That story. The one that you said your mom said? You sounded a bit scared there."

"Well... yeah, I guess you can call it that. Not anything to worry about, really."

"Doubt it. Considering there's a Beldam loose around the place, I highly don't believe you'd try to just... Ignore it, right?"

Harvard sighed as he'd signal for Shady to help him get up, his legs quickly rising and letting him properly walk around, letting his nerves and muscles ache and twitch again, finally allowing him to move. "Obviously. We've faced worse, though. A mere witch that's the same as me is... its nothing."

"Be realistic here. Stolas would've made you pull out if stuff was going to get dicey. Hell, even ZAZEL would've, and no offense to him, he's a bit indecisive with some stuff unless folks are ACTIVELY having issues. We can just choose to ignore her and focus on the task before flying back up in the air-"

"And the others?" A question that made the Biblical Sorcerer grow silent, a groan out of him.

"Hero stuff, I'm guessing?" A nod was met as Solomon pinched his eyes a bit. "Harvard, I know that-"

"Then why are you asking? Why are you so worried for me over a witch? Much less one that probably-" He'd stop himself as he'd realize why he was bringing up such questions, looking down at his legs. While Zazel showed concern over how such excess could kill his own legs, Solomon was quick to learn and show just as much when such a situation could happen again and he'd be unable to leave the fight, leaving him wide open. "...It's the Evolution stuff, isn't it?" He'd ask as he'd set up a third monster, Fruiten, a cake-like creature with strawberries for fingers, blasting down such frosting to act as a glue and coat over the combination.

"At least you're self aware of it."

"I'll be fine. Trust me, I don't think-"

"Harvard. We've seen you close to death so many times. At some point, you WILL tip over that edge and we don't know what to do if we ever lose you. What makes you think this may not be that very tipping point?" A valid point raised, yet the child remained stubborn. He'd close his eyes as he'd think.

"It's a weakness on my end, right? So, I simply just need to train that weakness enough times and It'll let my legs be more used to that transformation! You overheard our conversation, so you should already know what we can do to remedy it. I'm gonna ask over Zazel and Criollo to help train that new form so that next time, I won't be caught dead on the ground again!"

"...It's still not comforting knowing you're willing to push this far. I'll trust you on this for now but... genuinely. As a friend, even with all the slack I give, I'm worried for you."

"I'll live! For now, we just need to focus on Candartha safely going to this Brunono guy!"

As they discussed, Criollo would be seen under the boys, giving directions and specific orders to ensure the construction is complete. He can't help but smile at seeing the commitment, as well as a slight concern over Harvard's well-being. Even though his front is strong, he can see a small twitch from the child's hand as he began to use Chilly, the final sweet monster, to freeze over the frosting and simply bellow out a cold air, refreshing everyone around the area so they don't overwork themselves. Only the most astute can see that the Card Magician was a bit scared. "Criollo? Are you ok?" A Shopkeeper asked, one with a Piñata skin adorned in different flavors, as they're busy trying to set up their own shop with a selection of bats and hammers.

"I'm fine. I'm just worried for our youth. That's all..." He'd reply.

"Hoo... Don't I know it. Everyone here has some sort of struggle thanks to that little miscreant." They'd proceed to leave, checking over the other candy residents, before a signal came to let the people dine, treats and foods adorned in taffy-like plates and cups. Criollo sighed as he followed last, looking up at the new walls.

He's afraid. The Guard just needs to know why, and eventually it could be overcome.
