The rain poured steadily, covering the in God's tears. The constant crashing the droplets make with the cardboard, wettening it even more. Shivering. . . It was shivering in that wet box, raining constantly pouring around her, dampening her fragile home. It was so cold, as the worn out jacket was completely soaked.
She was alone, hungry, and wanted to go home, but deep down, she knew that was never an option. One minute her and her family were having fun, taking a nice vacation in a town they'd never been in, only for them to leave her on a bench in the middle of town.
Its been a month since then and its only been hell. Every day she looks for dropped coins, dollar bills, even pennies come a long way. All the while, people just walked past, glaring at her with a look of disgust and disappointment.
"Such a nasty creature. . ."
"She's an ice elf, she could use her body to pay off whatever issues she has."
"Don't touch her honey, she might have deseases!"
Every single day, it was the same thing, as more time passed, living became more of a drag. The constant thought, "Will they find me? Will they save me?" It doesn't take long to lose hope, never does. Despite all that was going wrong, there was still hope. Hope that something, or someone will change her miserable life. And thankfully, that hope would come in a small young boy randomly approaching her at the dead of night.
It was a winter, the air was stabbing, as snowflakes began to fall, barely covering the cracked concrete. Ana laid there, shivering constantly. Her heartbeat's pulse slowly declining. This was it. If death were to claim her at anytime, it would've been now. A young girl dead by hypothermia, surely thats what the articles would've wrote about her. She just wanted her mom and dad to hold her again, singing her cheesy songs to make her sleep, and her dad's terrible cooking. But that wouldn't happen.
Her blue eyes opened slightly. Looking up at the night sky as the crescent moon moved slowly in the sky, staring back at her with its moonlight. It was consoling to feel at least something acknowledging her being, even if it was just a giant space rock. The cold settled in more, the air becoming thin as her barely covered form was being swallowed by ice. Ana closed her eyes, a cold, freezing tear escaping her eye, as it fell from her chin.
'Why did my parents abandon me? Was I that disappointing of a daughter?' She thought to herself, her teeth chattering under the cold as her small body was beginning to sink underneath the snow. For what little time she had, Ana put her mini hands together, rattling constantly as she prayed, speaking what few words she could get out.
'G-god. . . Please. . . d-don't let me die. . ." She muttered repeatedly, her breathing growing stronger. She closed her eyes, shaking in panic, her heart steadily slowing down.
Small footsteps crunched forward, stopping as their shadow loomed over her. What was odd about it the sudden ordeal, was the ominous heat coming from the shadow, almost like a blanket warming her almost frozen state. A young yet cheerful voice reached out, their face blurry from her poor health.
"Hey, are you okay?" The young boy called out. Ana tried to speak, but the cold had consumed her voice, her fingers steadily trailing towards his foot, her blue eyed gaze looking up weakly. "You shouldn't lay in the snow for too long, my mom said you'll turn blue if you do!"
"Here, let me help you up"
