After poverty, and finding out there was a 'way out', some people were determined to latch on to whatever they could.
For example, Basset Town refugees, Jest and Jord's parents, finally found them in Alterra.
It had been many months since Basset Town had become Alterra's subsidiary. Subsidiary and allies all had huge purchase limits, so they had an ample amount of Alterran products.
This also meant a lot of caravans between the two. Specifically, Basset Town caravans soon mixed with the growing number of merchants mixing in Alterra.
One day, one of the merchants in the caravan saw the siblings hanging out, living their best life. He had considered greeting them, but they disappeared to another street. He couldn't follow them because he had a meeting with one of the suppliers, and then he just forgot about them.
