Chapter 29 - Trial of Slaughter

Alex knew clearly in her mind that she couldn't keep up this rate of killing things, and as such she would need to make a breakthrough somewhere.

Equipment? Not possible, the bosses only give experience points

Skills? Also not possible, she didn't possess any tutoring crystals

Combat Standards? Unlikely, but the only possible notion

She began pushing herself.

She began extending her senses as far as they could go in order to perceive, and dodge attacks.

Alex felt her senses sharpen slowly, as the pressure mounted. It was undeniable that as a member of the Rangers family, she had a certain talent for martial arts, but due to her family's doting, she was never put in the life-threatening scenarios needed to advance in martial arts, and gain experience.

What she was doing right now was refining her skills, sharpening them, and utilising them to their peak in order to survive.

She wanted to win. She NEEDED to win.

This thought drove her further as she continuously brandished her daggers, flying through the various enemies.

There were many close calls.

A troll type boss nearly struck her with its club whilst she was distracted, and she nearly ran into powerful spells whilst dodging attacks as she whittled down the health of the various enemies.

However, she reached another issue. As these were all bosses, they all possessed powerful berserk, and team-wipe skills. As such if all of them were triggered she would undoubtedly die.

The reason she hadn't seen any yet was due to her powerful skills being active which allowed her to instantly kill all the bosses.

Alex wracked her brains to think of a plan, a strategy, anything that might allow her a chance of winning. As she analysed her circumstances, and potential things she could improve, Alex remembered her titles, and racial passives that increased her proficiency in lightning element magic.

Capitalising on that fact, she tried using her mana to surround her daggers in a light coat of lightning before gently pushing the mana in.

Although the mana coated her dagger, she couldn't push it inside of the dagger. As such the only thing she could do was push harder.

Alex pushed her senses beyond her limits as she dodged attacks whilst pushing mana into the dagger.

However, as she kept pushing more, and more lightning element mana into the dagger, it all compressed together into a massive ball of lightning, and it kept going, and going, and going much like a snowball.

The ball of lightning expanded rapidly as Alex perfected her control over lightning mana. Alex directed all of her mana into the ball of lightning, and when she ran out, she drained the surroundings of their lightning element mana.

Surprisingly enough Alex found that the strange walls had an abundant amount of lightning element mana which increased the diameter of the ball of lightning to approximately 20 meters. It was expected that the the location for The Trials of Lightning would be filled with lightning element mana, and so, using this fact Alex drained as much of the mana as she could into the gigantic ball before finally releasing it, and allowing it to explode.

Silence.

There was nothing left of the mob of bosses. Surprisingly enough, the colosseum was completely unharmed.
