"Whoosh----- !"
The sound of wind rang out. It was the residual energy stirred by a speed so fast that even bullets couldn't catch up. Fang Li's eyes were locked straight ahead, his figure like a raging wind, sweeping through space as he charged toward Sylvia.
That speed resembled a ghostly shadow, silent and invisible, and only after it had passed did the delayed sound come echoing in its wake.
And in response to this near-invisible speed, another sound rose up.
"----- I'm_trying_to_break_the_barrier, The_boundary_crosses_the_boundary, No_fear_of_sorrow (We strive to shatter the walls, breaking through the border ahead, fearless of sorrow, running and rushing forth)----- "
Sylvia sang effortlessly, her voice a beautifully enchanting melody. Though it sounded calm and composed, the entire song took less than a second to perform, which was astonishing in itself.
Singing had always been Sylvia's weapon. Only through song could she unleash her near-omnipotent Abilities. But if singing took too long, it would naturally become a vulnerability.
To overcome that, Sylvia had clearly undergone intense training, learning to perform these elegant songs at nearly impossible speeds, so fluid that they never sounded rushed.
As she sang, Mana gathered around her body, and her entire figure began to glow faintly.
"Zheng!"
Immediately afterward, the Lux in her hand also began to shine, and within the light, it restructured itself, transforming into a sword form.
"Clang----- !"
A crisp clashing sound rang out.
The chilling blade light that had sliced through the air was blocked by Sylvia's sword-shaped Lux, which shimmered faintly with light.
Even before stepping forward, Fang Li had already launched an attack, swinging his dagger so that the slicing light slashed toward Sylvia, yet when she blocked it so effortlessly, his brows lifted slightly in surprise.
Apparently, he hadn't expected Sylvia to so easily parry one of his high-speed slashes.
To that, Sylvia simply smiled with a voice like singing, cheerful and bright.
"This is a song that enhances physical abilities. Thanks to the bonus effects from my Title, it seems even more powerful than I imagined."
With that, she gave her Lux a sharp twist.
"Clang!"
A ringing metallic sound echoed as she flicked Fang Li's Moon Blade aside.
"Shua Shua Shua Shua Shua----- !"
Almost instantly, a storm of slashes came sweeping forward.
In the same instant she flicked his dagger away, Sylvia moved like a dancer, her Lux carving the air with graceful precision, turning into a barrage of slashes that surged toward Fang Li.
Fang Li reacted immediately, retreating without hesitation, his movements light and elusive, like a drifting breeze. With those ghostlike steps, he dodged every slash coming his way, leaving behind only a trail of afterimages, which were shredded by the incoming strikes.
But Sylvia, as if she had predicted his movements, suddenly stepped forward.
Wearing a light, joyful smile, she continued her assault, her Lux dancing like a sword and releasing another wave of slashes toward Fang Li.
The wind from the incoming slashes reached Fang Li's body even before the blades did, brushing lightly across his skin.
From the sensation on his skin, combined with his extensive combat experience, Fang Li quickly assessed her slashes: they weren't heavy, nor were they particularly fast. With his speed, he could easily dodge or block them.
After all, Sylvia had never formally trained in sword techniques, so her proficiency couldn't be considered high.
But still, From Sylvia's attacks, Fang Li sensed a certain freedom, something he hadn't felt from any of his past opponents.
This rare Diva was a being of a completely different kind from Fang Li.
In Asterisk War's Academy City, everyone knew that Sylvia was not only powerful in her innate Abilities, but her close-combat prowess was also exceptionally strong, completely on par with Jie Long's Page One. Even someone like Zhao Hufeng, a pure fist fighter, would likely have no choice but to concede defeat.
This was evident just by looking at Sylvia's Attributes. All her stats were extremely balanced, with none particularly standing out, proving that she had never neglected either physical training or Ability development. She had trained herself rigorously and consistently.
However, Sylvia's close-combat ability wasn't something cultivated through any formal, systematized training. She had developed it herself after only learning the basics, a purely self-styled technique.
Because of that, there wasn't much technical profundity in her attacks. But they carried a sense of unfettered freedom, as if she were truly improvising a dance, which made her movements completely unpredictable.
Faced with this, Fang Li chose caution over direct engagement. Relying on his greatest advantage, speed, he flitted through Sylvia's sword winds like a willow leaf, flickering back and forth, dodging each incoming slash one by one.
To an outsider, it might appear that Fang Li was simply desperately evading, and they'd probably assume he was on the defensive.
But Sylvia knew better. She could clearly tell who held the upper hand. With a touch of resignation, she spoke:
"As expected, when it comes to pure close combat, even with my songs enhancing me, I still can't do much to you."
As soon as she finished speaking, Sylvia began singing again.
"----- The_dance_whirlwind_celebrates_the_distance, The_wind_of_heaven_is_falling_on_you_and_me, The_journey_is_still_far_away, There_is_only_one_friend (The dance whirlwind sings of the faraway, Heaven's wind descends upon you and me, the journey remains distant, and there is but one friend)----- "
Her elegant singing, like the gentle whisper of a goddess, resonated through the air.
She sang a song, And what came forth, was wind.
"BOOM----- !"
Like an explosion, a whirlwind burst from around Sylvia's body, and in an instant transformed into a violent storm, tearing toward the nearby Fang Li.
The windstorm's speed was astonishing.
Even for Fang Li, being this close meant there was no way to completely dodge. He could only suddenly retreat a few meters to escape the eye of the storm.
And then, The rising wind struck without mercy.
"BOOM----- !"
A heavy, oppressive impact echoed. Like being smashed by a giant hammer, Fang Li's figure was sent flying like a ball. The impact was shocking in appearance, but thanks to Fang Li's swift reaction, he suffered no real damage.
Not to mention, Fang Li was equipped with "Light Breath", which helped reduce damage, meaning he hadn't taken any actual harm.
But at that very moment, Sylvia began to sing again.
"----- Sing, Sing, Ghost_triumph, Silvery_sheen, The_door_of_the_army_appeared_before_me (Sing, sing, triumphant spirits, silver radiance, and the army's gate manifests before my eyes)----- "
A torrent of dense Mana began to stir like a storm.
Accompanied by the surge of Prana erupting from her entire body, the energy took shape, forming into figures.
In a blink, hundreds of armored maidens appeared around Sylvia, resembling Martial God-like warriors.
They looked like a divine bodyguard squad, protecting a goddess.
Each held a longsword, and without hesitation, they charged toward Fang Li.
