Arien continued to explain to Lucian about his new job. Finally.
Lucian was to protect and help them on their training, to follow and do all the heavy work, and to cook and clean, and to tie their shoes and put on their clothes, to wipe their food stain cheeks and pinch their chubby faces and coo at them-
He was basically a babysitter. He is a babysitter now.
And Arien was asking him to do a shift with this babysitting job. Arien will do the more softer, emotional side while Lucian did the heavy, physical side.
Basically Arien was crying for help.
"…Why are you..?" Lucian spoke, his ash filled throat was still has raspy and hard to speak through as ever. He had to stop for a minute, frowning. He cleared his throat, sounding like sandpaper on cement. "Aren't you a priest?"
Arien smiled, a smile on a smile. Lucian is going crazy. "Ah, yes I am. This is a privilege to help the Prince, the head Priest had allowed me to guide their young minds into greatness."
In other words, Arien was forced to take care of three children because their family is too rich to care and the church needs the money.
Lucian let his head drop, ignoring the crack, as if he was resigned to his new fate.
Although he soon regret that move, he actually couldn't move his heavy head up anymore.
Eitherway, this was better than being a villain.
Although…
Maybe that's why the four will try to kill him in the future, Ghost was probably the worse babysitter ever.
"Oh."
They stopped talking, sitting in silence, until Arien cleared his throat, his was more smoother and honestly like a hum than anything else. If only Ghost's body wasn't second of decaying, maybe he could sound like that.
No, no it wouldn't. Arien was just in another impossible level to copy. Sigh.
"Ah, do you need help standing?" Arien said. "Although, I heard of your condition, I never seen such a worse phase of your condition."
Lucian was sure this condition was made up in the series, but now it was a real thing. Maybe. He wasn't sure anymore. Especially the way Arien avoided saying the name, perhaps this was actually a lie. Or perhaps the creators were too lazy to create a name for it.
He didn't even know anymore.
"I am.. In need." Lucian pushed out, speaking felt like coughing. Coughing coal. "Of help."
There.
His body can finally die, because that felt like spitting out a cannon latched in his throat trying to ask for help. Was this a side effect for being vulnerable when his character is capital EVIL in evil?
Arien blinked, his smile was now in a more relaxed way. Man, even his smiles are different stages. "Help?"
"I can't move."
"…Oh."
"…"
The smile was tense now.
At first, Arien didn't help me up, but did give him a chair, where did he get that, for Lucian to hold himself up to.
But the thing was, even with that, Lucian can only grab the chair and he made absolutely no movement at all. Except for his shaking arm, Arien in the end had to stretched out his hand, sighing and…
Arien is looking at him. His eyes were on him. Like actually looking.
Perhaps because he was a priest and Ghost waa, uh, well something, but Lucian felt something almost burning. As if he was staring at two glaring suns or maybe two blinding stars, wow, in the same time.
Actually, they weren't some light color, nothing of gold or some bright blue. They where green. A shade of dark green. Even surprisedly that they seem to shine down at him.
Is this…
…Is Arien trying to use his holy magic on him? Is this some sort of exorcism? Holy eyes…?
What in the world…
Arien was quick to look away, but his hands are still out stretched. Lucian felt a feeling close to horror when he felt something near him.
Ah.
Wait.
Arien is a priest, and Lucian was some sort of inhuman thing.
Would…
Would a touch of Arien make him…
Lucian reached out and grasped his hand, and immediately he felt nothing. No evapuration, no melting, not burning, just nothing.
Huh.
Arien lifted him up, his hand was almost the same as his. Except that Arien has normal human circulation while Lucian was in a rotting, cold body. So nothing the same actually. Which means he could feel the warmth underneath his glove, especially when he, himself, is so cold.
With legs closely resembling actual branches, Lucian was able to lock and stabilize his legs to be able to stand and possible walk. Maybe. At least for a while before his legs just give up.
Arien was quick to take away his hand, even if he did linger a bit while Lucian was trying not to fall back down, slightly hovering. How nice of him. Although, he felt a bit disappointed.
Disappointed that Arien's touch didn't ultimately evaporated him into his next life or something. He was expecting the touch to send him in a holy coma or something. But nevertheless, Lucian gave him a nod as thanks.
"…Will you not use your magic to make yourself hover?" Arien spoke, politely returning the nod with a reflexed smile.
Lucian had another clue of Ghost. So he can actually hover, like a ghost, ha. Perhaps he should had known. With grazing through walls and having no heartbeat, he should know that he was able to hover as well! Because he's a ghost, duh, this is so dumb.
His physical body was a lie! No wonder its so weak and unmovable, Ghost was abusing his magic to be lazy!
…Or maybe the condition was like really real and causing his weakness?
But, Lucian only shrugged, "No need…"
If he knew how to, Lucian would had actually left this whole kingdom and hide inside a tree and never see the daylight again. But, it seem like fear is the only thing that could activate his magic, for him at least, so Lucian could only push it aside.
He felt no fear.
Arien sighed, "Well, it seemed like our talk is done, we must go and find the three."
He lied,
Maybe he does fear.
The two ended up standing in what looks like a training field, the training dummies suspiciously had small foot marks and intentionally rip marks everywhere, and the way there were no other people training in this huge field. Lucian already knew he was going to regret it all.
Maybe it was more easier for him to actually be the villain.
He shivered.
"…I'll check the weapon storage." I mumbled, already feeling the sun burning his seemingly attached pale skin. Arien looked fine in this sun, it made him shine even more. With these two combined, Lucian was sure he was going to die standing there by their bright sun glare.
Arien's smile was stiff in the corner, as he looked at the mess. "Of course… I'll check the dummies."
I glance to him in question, but he was already gracefully walking towards the dummies. Although, it looked like he was walking in a battlefield, as his back looked too big with burden for a normal priest to have.
Lucian felt complicated, turning to enter the worn out storage hut.
He already felt dread.
