Once that first act of cannibalism happened, it was as if the lid had been opened on Pandora's Box.
That first offender didn't just attack a single other elemental, it started attacking the other elementals as well.
When that happened, there were others that joined in on attacking the other elementals.
But this wasn't the only thing that they attacked.
Eventually, there were groups that were formed between those that had attacked each other and it seemed like there was conflict between them. It seemed like they all wanted to become the strongest elemental out there.
What they realized was that the stronger the elemental was that they absorbed, the more power that they received from that elemental.
So it didn't take long for those that attacked others to wage war between their groups.
At the same time, they didn't stop attacking those that didn't attack others.
