The silver SUV rolled smoothly through the institute gates, its polished surface reflecting the golden haze of late morning.
Students walked along the sidewalks in small groups, their laughter light, effortless. Some carried stacks of books. Others stared down at their phones, fingers moving in quiet rhythm.
Just another ordinary world.
Airi watched them through the dark window. Her reflection stared back at her faintly, overlapping with the scenery outside.
Normal.
That was the word that came to mind.
Smiles. Conversations. Lives.
"Milady, we've arrived."
Clara, seated beside her, moved to open the door.
"Clay… don't you think all of this is meaningless?" Airi asked quietly.
"Pardon?"
The girl fell silent again. She wondered how many of them would still smile like that… if they knew the truth.
"Nothing."
Airi let out a heavy breath before stepping out of the car. As usual, voices immediately called out to her from a distance.
"Aidera, good morning."
"Hello, Miss Ai."
