"I refuse," Zeyn said calmly.
Chana looked at him. Sharp, but not surprised.
"I haven't even finished speaking," he replied without changing his expression.
Zeyn let out a quiet scoff. "Sir, with all due respect." His eyes closed briefly. "I believe I already understand where this conversation is heading. Unfortunately, I can't assist you in a task like that."
"Hm. And where exactly do you think it's heading?" Chana tested him.
"I'm far too familiar with requests like this. Finding someone is never just about locating them. There's always something more behind it. And that something is rarely good."
Those ruby-red eyes opened.
"You're asking me to do dirty work," Zeyn said evenly. "I can't let that happen. Not again. I'm no longer someone's errand boy sent to eliminate people."
The CEO fell silent, listening. He could tell that behind the young man's steady gaze, darker memories were resurfacing.
