"Ahem..." The firefighter kindly reminded, "Miss Lu, please be a bit more tactful. Do not provoke her."
"Oh."
Lu Zhenzhen actually thought about it seriously, but she really couldn't come up with any comforting words. She was always the one being pampered by others; it was impossible for her to placate a stranger, an Old Lady.
But when she glanced at the child trembling with fear in the Old Lady's arms, her heart softened.
"May I ask a bold question," Lu Zhenzhen said, "are you going to die or not?"
The firefighter: "..."
Enough, utterly exhausted.
The Old Lady was stunned for a moment, then her face flushed with anger as she shouted, "Is this the attitude for a serious conversation?!"
Lu Zhenzhen had no patience for this, "Why don't you just tell me what you want? Beating around the bush is useless."
The words the Old Lady wanted to say got stuck in her throat.
She kept remembering the words her son and daughter-in-law had admonished her with before she came.
