Chapter 92 - Deep Cover (4)

"What was the point of that? We could have just asked for some points and moved on," Sylvia argued, after having left the space station.

"Like you said, we should look at the bigger picture. Considering the time we took to create our first potion and the fact that we refused the rewards, her impression on us is rather good compared to the other students. Politeness doesn't work on most of the teachers but she is a different case, best case scenario we might get a good supporter in case we get in trouble next time," I explained, walking to our next class. "Solidifying that impression will make her acquaintance, then friends then on and on."

"So basically, you mean that it's a long term project?" Sylvia asked, trying to get the jist of it. "Anyways let's forget that for now, what are you going to do about our fake IDs?"

"Already made that, don't worry about the names, Wally named the IDs," I reassured her. "But are you sure a second pair of eyes can keep your identity safe?"

"Spectacles are the best accessories to hide your identity, it's how we Zor-Els can live a normal life," Sylvia explained. "But I guess I will change my hair colour to bla- ginger if you insist."

"You don't need to turn it to ginger, black looks good on you as well," I replied. "But since we are impersonating the FBI, we would need to look more professional."

"... Wa-Wait we are impersonating the FBI? Seriously? FBI?" Sylvia repeated, stunned by my words. "Are you sure they won't catch us impersonating them?"

"Relax, I even got someone to impersonate as our Special Agent in Charge," I said, smiling brightly. "Dr. Reinhardt is taking care of that."

"You managed to pull the practical biology teacher into this? At this point I am doubting myself if I should even be surprised by this, you are truly a miracle worker at this point," Sylvia said.

"Flattery... I guess you learnt that from me," I said, with a scornful expression. "Don't be like me though, or you will soon come to regret that."

As much as a insane person I might be, I don't want one of my only pillars of sanity to turn out like me. Just as Holborn warned me, I need to draw a line between my current self and a monster.

'Remember one thing, you can be a monster, one that is capable of doing horrible things but you choose to keep it under voluntary control. That is the essence of being a good person and the main reason that you are not a monster,' I remembered, Holborn's words. 'Although I agree that you am a bit manipulative sometimes, you are not completely like me yet... And I hope that you will never have to.'

"You mourn for him as if he is dead but you still don't know the truth," Ryuk remarked at my silly thoughts. "Doctor is a good man, he doesn't kill and Holborn- I mean 12th isn't someone who would take his own life."

'So I assume that you didn't see him go to hell yet... Though that would mean that he is either trapped somewhere or, is restricted from entering this universe,' I assumed. 'Whatever it is, Doctor is to be held responsible for it... But I don't hate him honestly. Hating a multiversal level threat like Doctor is something only an idiot would do. Although, I wish to rescue 12th, I need to be careful and act smart. Getting emotional over this would ruin everything.'

"You are day dreaming again," Sylvia's words rang in my ears as if waking me up from my thoughts, as I looked around myself to find that we were already in our class. "Seriously, super speed really bores you out, huh?"

"Doesn't yours work in the same way? How do I never see you getting bored?" I asked back.

"Seriously, after ten years you ask me such a childish question? Why do you think I am around you all the time?" Sylvia stated, as if answering the obvious.

"What's the point of being a grown up if you can't be a little childish from time to time?" I asked.

"That is good point," Sylvia replied.

"True, I have to agree with you on this," Ryuk stated.

Malcolm's class started shortly after I said that, although I made multiple attempts to sleep though it, I just couldn't. No, not because of any external problems, I was simply too hungry to sleep.

The class was lengthened as well due to the fact that he casually brought a star map to give us a detailed analysis of our galaxy. Then he made us draw it in our note books just because he felt that we had plenty of time left for dinner... I am one day going to kill that man in cold blood, if I get the chance.
