After I had created a new outlook for myself, I had to attend the next class due to Sylvia's nagging. The next class was on chemistry and alchemy, this was one of the classes that interested me the most and also the one that annoyed me the most. This class was taken by none other than our Headmaster Violet, and when I say that she is a bother, I actually mean I hate her.
This class was held at the laboratory room which was placed in a space station because of the past destructive acts of the students of Paragon, it was also more advanced than the entire planet because it was technically not on the planet. The space station had a portal attached to the academy in the portal room, where the students were teleported from. The portal system was too small for seven hundred students to travel together, so Violet cast a mass teleportation spell on us to teleport us all at the same time. It funny how they kept this world medieval to hold onto those memories of it and yet this place is as futuristic as it gets in this galaxy.
The whole class was run by magically engineered robots. The flasks and cauldrons were made of weaver stones that channel and store heat for a longer period of time, these things need proper care as provided it too much heat will result in a mini explosion, capable of causing significant damage to the students. Thus to prevent an explosion from happening, these weaver stones are covered by a layer of cold iron and then they are covered by layer of taxcite. Taxcite is an alien mineral that transfers the heat it receives from one side, directly to the other.
All the flasks are regular glass with a layer of weaver stone underneath it, having other no changes to them, I wonder how these flasks are one of the oldest things in these rooms. Ryuk wasn't wrong when he said a kid like me has to do more research before writing a novel like this.
"Every one, divide yourselves into groups of two to three and stand in front of a cauldron. Don't fight amongst yourselves for some silly reasons and try to focus on the class," Violet announced. She didn't even have to use her magic, the sound waves in the room that she created, didn't loose their strength and was heard by the entire class, there wasn't even a single echo. This left most of class wandering what just happened and most of them assumed that it was because she casted a spell beforehand. However, this phenomenon happened due to the room itself, as it was designed to bounce a sound waves once at a certain point and absorb it on the second time. So, basically even a medium-high pitched noise can turn into a loud noise if it's sound waves hit the floor.
"Since today is your first class here, I will give you all some time to get accustomed to your cauldrons, be careful with them because if you blow it up, you will have to pay for them," Violet warned us again.
The first class being a theory and practical class didn't really help the students much because most of them had no previous knowledge on alchemy. They felt as if chemistry only taught them the jist of a thousand books in a single book. This was natural, since even I thought the same when learning it from Alfred at eight years of age.
At first I wanted to team up with Samuel but then again, he has a group of his own now so I didn't give the idea any further thought.
"Looks like you will be stuck with me for a while," Sylvia said, trying to understand one of the books on the basics of alchemy, not knowing it's upside down. 'What kind of gibberish is this?'
"You say that as if it's a bad thing but honestly I couldn't find a better partner in this room," I said, turning the book upside down for her.
"Thank... Why are you being so nice all of a sudden?" Sylvia asked, slowly turning her head too look at me, doubting if I was sick. "It's almost as if you are flattering me, I have rarely seen you flatter anyone. Are you up to something again?"
"I am always nice! I am the king of nice... Wait forget the last part that is a bad title," I said, reprimanding myself. "But I do need a bit of practice to be rude, have you decided on your personality, you know new personalities take time to adapt to, so to get a little head start you should start practicing early on."
"Honestly, I am not the best actor so I think trying to adapt to a new personality will take me a while, like I am talking about a month. I will have to be myself," Sylvia answered.
"That's alright, no problem with that," I replied.
"You will find a lab coat in the drawer under your desks, grab one each and don't talk while I am explaining the process or worst case scenario, you will end up making a poison potion instead of a healing one," Voilet warned us once again. After she saw that everyone had worn their lab coats she continued, "On the left side of the desks you will find a hologram interface, where various ingredients will show up, choose the Mandrake roots and Ent branches options and set the quantity to ten, you could go for two if you are feeling confident in your skills. Then follow the recipe as it is stated in the book, if you have any queries don't be shy to ask me about it."
In about ten minutes after she said it, most of the students had gathered around her desk, which created a lot of chaos. This was the only reason I hate her as a teacher, she doesn't have a proper teaching technique!
