After dealing with Doctor, I went back to my room instead of attending the next class. I had decided that if I was going on a detective mission, then I better go fully prepared. And what's the best way to go on a detective mission other than deep cover?
"You won't get into any trouble for skipping classes, right?" Ryuk asked.
"It's Doctor's class right now; if I do get into any trouble, I will leave it to him," I answered.
To go deep cover, I needed a way to hide my identity completely, and for that, I needed the perception filter installed in my TWG.
The perception filter function can change the outer appearance of anyone into their desired forms, but the only downside it has is that it can't change my voice or accent. Now, I can install a voice adjustment but I wanted to try something different.
"I am going to become Scottish!" I said.
"... Have you finally lost it? What do you mean you are going to become Scottish?" Ryuk asked me, trying to maintain his calm.
"Hypothetically speaking, if I were to start speaking like a Scottish man, how long would it take me to adapt to their styles and behaviour?" I asked back.
"By normal standards, you would need a year, but if we are talking about you, then there will be a huge difference. Maybe you can become a Scottish in a day," Ryuk answered, thinking hard about the topic. "Why would you choose Scottish out of all the options you had?"
"Savitar and Ray Allen are cheerful people with a good personality, and Ryuk is a cold person with unknown goals, so naturally, for this identity, I want to be different from the two. And Scottish people are a bit rude, so naturally, I can complain about everything freely," I said. "Maybe a little let out now and then wouldn't be so bad."
"Is that why you want to turn into a Scottish? To complain about others? I... I just don't get you sometimes. You are complicated," Ryuk commented.
"Try having to live with people who don't understand you and are ten times dumber than you are, you will know how enraging it is," I said. "But while acting as a hero, I had to bottle up all that rage and anger. So, I could use some excuse to let out my anger."
Installing the perception filter in my TWG took nearly ten minutes in the real world with my Flashtime. However, the main problem with it was to decide on a new outlook.
"Should I try to be skinny? Like proper skinny, I feel like being skinny would make people underestimate me a lot. A skinny young man with ginger hair, and maybe even wear a sunglass. Sunglasses are cool, I should wear a sunglass," I said, excited about making my new outlook.
"Why the ginger hair? I think black would look better," Ryuk asked.
"Ginger is better, I have always wanted to be ginger. I felt disappointed that I didn't get ginger hair in this life either. However, now that I have a choice why not be ginger?" I replied. "Then again, I can just go get Sylvia to help me out with my disguise, she is better at this than me."
"Unlike a certain someone, she is attending the class, don't try to do what I think you are about to do," Ryuk warned me.
"Are you my mummy?" I asked him, with an innocent expression.
"... If you could concentrate, you have a task on your hand," Ryuk said calmly, sounding rather annoyed.
Ding
Our conversation was cut short after a message popped up in my system interface.
----------
Mr. Ray Allen (Savitar), you have accepted the B-Rank mission Vampire Pirates.
Task description: A group of Vampires Pirates have started causing trouble in the Atlantic Ocean. They have stolen numerous resources from the sailors causing heavy damage to them. You are tasked with capturing all of them or their leader and bringing them back alive.
Duration: 30 days
Please complete the assigned mission within the given duration; we hope you excel.
----------
"Thirty days? For this? I could just kidnap their leader and bring him here in ten minutes; well, I might get lost, so ten hours, well, could be more, but I don't know; I will just travel normally by ship," I said, looking at the message.
Knock Knock
After shutting down the interface, I heard a knocking sound from the window; as I turned around to check, I saw Sylvia hovering in the air outside my window.
"What are you doing here? Get in," I said after sliding open the window to let her in before someone saw her.
"You assigned me in the mission with my title?" Sylvia asked, hopping inside the room.
"Yeah, I thought you didn't have a hero name yet," I answered, closing the window.
"A title is different from a hero's name! You could have at least asked me before doing that, and why didn't you attend the class?" Sylvia asked.
"I was about to bring that up; listen, since we are going deep cover, I need your help to decide a new outlook. Anything that goes with ginger hair is fine; try to make me skinny as well, if possible," I replied, handing over my TWG to her. "Point the sapphire in my direction; I have already activated the perception filter; an interface will show up in front of you, choose the outlook you think works out, and press confirm."
"Quick question, but why skinny? I know that you have always wanted ginger hair but skinny? I think the robust figure you have is better than being skinny, no? And maybe it will go well with ginger," Sylvia explained.
"Welllll... I guess that's alright, but make it so that it will go with sunglasses, I was thinking that you should turn me into a Scottish. All the Scottish people I have met were rude, and that is something I am not, most of the time. So, if I turn into a Scottish no one will suspect that I am Ray Allen," I explained.
"Wait since you made one for you to go deep cover... Does that mean I am getting one of these as well?" Sylvia asked.
"Why of course, if you and Tommy don't use perception filters while I do, you both will blow my deep cover. Now on you go, we don't have all day," I said.
