Chapter 9 - A different way to train(2)

"Stand up, young master!" Alfred commanded. "Stand up and face me one more time!"

Alfred shouted at me when I fell to the ground. We had been fighting for hours because Alfred wanted to teach me a skill that will help me survive. It was called 'Instinct'. No, if you are thinking that it is similar to battle instinct then no. It is way more useful than that. It can not only help the user predict their opponent's movement patterns but it can also predict if a choice is good or bad. It may fail sometimes but if it is used along with Speed Thinking it has a hundred percent chance of working correctly.

Although I wasn't able to learn it in an instant. After a couple of fights, I was able to master it. The training method that Alfred taught me was undoubtedly effective. Although I could not get more substantial with that method, I did learn to control my ability better. I had to remember that I didn't have any talents. So to keep up with the geniuses, I had to train relentlessly every day.

But for now, let's forget about all that and focus on the food. A speedster needs about ten thousand calories per day. That's a lot... I mean a lot...

"The amount of food you eat... I bet you could win an eating competition with a belly like that." Ryuk remarked.

'I am a speedster, after all.' I replied.

"Tell your excuses to someone else."

"Young Master, would you like to eat anything else?" asked Alfred.

"No, I am full," I answered with a burp.

Since speedsters tend to eat a lot of food, we have a lot of chefs. I guess people don't expect one of the richest people in this world to spend all their money on food items. I wouldn't either.

"Since you have mastered a little of your ability, we will go on a field trip today!" Uncle declared.

"A field trip? Are you serious?" I asked.

"Well, you know what they say, no? Practical training is the best training! Today we are going to hunt a mutant beast."

"You mean you are going to hunt it, right?"

Uncle smiled at me.

"No, please! I am not ready to hunt a mutant yet."

"If you are in trouble, I will help you."

"Can I prepare for a bit?"

"You have an hour. The doors to the danger zone will open at ten."

I quickly ran towards my workshop to get anything I could.

"Gauntlets check. Guns check. Nanobots check. Wally check. Alright, I am done."

"You won't take your drones?" Ryuk asked.

"No, they might get destroyed by flying mutants."

"Turrets?"

"Turrets don't move. They will get destroyed. It takes time to set up."

"Alright, I guess I won't ask any more questions then."

"I should take the energy rifle just in case I need to use it."

I stored all of the items inside Wally's Spatial inventory. I could not use magic unless I made a mana heart. So, I could only draw the magic circles. Unless I comprehended the Sphere of the Gods or Void Wind to create a mana-heart or aura-core, I had to make work out of it. Wally had a tiny magic circle inside him to store things in his inventory.

"Alright, let's go."

Yellow Zone

Outside of the Danger zone gates

--------------

Danger zones were first introduced in the second arc of volume two of my novel. It is a dwelling place of mutants and mutant beasts. Some wild races like goblins and orcs live there as well. It is not a safe place for survival so, heroes, freelancers and mercenaries are hired regularly to clear the areas. The danger zones are of three levels, yellow is the lowest level, orange is the medium level and red is the high level. There are also black zones which are difficult to clear even for an S Ranker. Once a zone is cleared, people from the Government expand towards that region and take over the zone.

The gate was completely guarded with energy turrets, drones, guards equipped with full body armour, meta-humans and magicians. At the front of the gate, many mercenaries and freelancers were waiting for the gates to open. There were werewolves, vampires, mermen, avians, arthopodians, and meta-humans among them. Magicians or, aura-users don't join these types of low-level raids unless they are poor, or untalented.

When they saw us walking towards the gate, the crowd instantly walked out of our way to make us a path. Uncle was wearing his regular hero uniform. A red-coloured suit with gold-coloured boots and gloves, with two tiny bolts of lightning on the ears section, two tinted glasses on the eyes and a hole for the mouth section. I was also wearing my training uniform but they were not so bothered to look at me when they saw my uncle.

"Oh my god! I didn't expect to meet a special-class hero here!"

"I know right? I just came here to collect some mutant DNA. Who would have thought that we would get to meet a special-class hero here?"

"Let's go get his autograph!"

"Are you an idiot? He would not even bother to talk with a low level like you!"

The crowd was going wild. However, the Government soldiers quickly escalated the situation.

"Flash! What a surprise! I did not expect to meet you here!" An old man in his 60s greeted us with open arms.

"I am sorry to have disturbed you during your vacation, Sergeant Davey. I just came here to let my nephew get some real-life combat experience." Uncle bowed a bit and greeted him as well.

"Oh! So this little guy is your nephew? I thought you had finally had a kid. Tsk tsk... So when are you having a kid?" The Sergeant teased him.

"Uncle didn't even marry anyone yet." I corrected him.

"He hasn't?! When are you getting married, huh?! Make sure to invite me when you do."

ATTENTION PLEASE THE GATES TO THE YELLOW ZONE ARE GOING TO BE OPENED IN
