Chapter 31 - Beast

Before Hospital explosion

Tyler tied his jacket over the wound in his stomach. He looked back at the monsters beside the monster core.

"This is such pain," Tyler smirked

Delmira growled lowly keeping the creatures away from Tyler. He was watching them as they watched them in silence.

"They're protecting the monster core?" Tyler thought "Intelligent monsters huh?"

Since the door shut them inside both sides were mostly defensive. The monsters didn't or couldn't leave a meter away from the core.

"Why?" Tyler thought to himself.

Delmira nudged him and gave a small whine. She looked at the bloodied jacket over his wound.

"I'm okay, Del." he smiled "I'll manage...somehow."

Tyler concentrated energy on his wound and it began to close up. Tyler looked at the monster again and various possible attack patterns were in his mind.

The monsters' attack power was lower than Delmira and his combined. It was their defence that was the problem, they had hard exoskeletons that even Delmira's fangs had trouble with.

"How do I deal with this?" Tyler groaned

*EXPLOSION* *RUMBLING*

The entire building shook violently. The wires connected to the core were shaken off and it crashed down to the ground.

"What sort of idiot bombs a remote poor town?" Tyler grumbled holding his abdomen in pain

"Woof." Delmira huffed

They felt bad breath descend on them and shifted their heads to the source. The monsters were bigger than they remembered and right in front of them.

"The tables have turned." Tyler reacted

They jumped out of the way and gaped at the hole that was formed.

"I was wrong, Del." Tyler said "The core suppresses their power."

Delmira showed Tyler a look that held all her emotions and he gave her a humble smile. The monsters separated and lunged toward their prey.

Tyler punched the incoming attacker in its snout, another one bit into his left leg and he made a cone descend into its chest. Delmira transformed, spun around and hit into the creatures.

A light hit Tyler's eyes and he saw the monster core on the ground. He prepared to move toward it until he was bashed into the wall violently leaving a dent.

"Ugh." he groaned forcing his eyes open

The monster had merged into two somethings. Tyler didn't how to define it exactly in descriptive words. He didn't have time to think it over when its tail rammed into his abdomen.

He threw up blood and raised his fingers. the tip of the tail was sliced by a line and he took in more spiritual energy from the environment. Delmira glanced at him with concern as Tyler let out an unnatural sound.

The creature also felt the change in Tyler and became more alert. The human moved forward with a cone around his fist and stabbed its torso.

*grin*

Tyler's attack didn't penetrate his armor and the creature mocked him. It raised its paw and hit him downward. It pressed down on his skull, clearly wanting to finish things up quickly and do something else.

He looked at Delmira who lay on the ground bleeding profusely. The creatures started to cackle with each other and made his anger rise. The poison in his system was making his condition worse and he grinded his teeth together.

He tried to concentrate on the energy around but his mind was a mess. The paw on his head, the substance in his body and the blood leaking out of him.

"Let go," Tyler mumbled to himself

The laughter stopped and they looked at Tyler with mocking gazes. Oddly disgust filled Tyler like a flood as he pushed the creature off him somehow. The newfound strength was highly appreciated as it gave Tyler space to think.

*CRACK*

Delmira's mouth gaped and she stared at Tyler. He coughed up blood and smirked arrogantly. The monster ran toward him with murderous intent.

Tyler made several pyramids enclose him and block the creature's claws. He made a cone around his fist and hit a mark from the previous attacks. The armour came crumbling down and he gave a triumphant grin.

The creature roared loudly and bashed Tyler into the wall, he softened the impact with his energy and fell on his feet. He looked at the creature, his energy was depleted, he broke his core and was slowly dying.

The air around Tyler shifted and his mind was empty. The intensity of his eye color deepened and he looked at the creature and raised his hands.

The monster pushed back before a cone pushed up from the earth. Tyler advanced, his nails extended and clashed with the monster's claws. Spiked spheres appeared by its right side and imploded.

The monster's companion left Delmira and lunged at Tyler. He smiled, it's companion slashed his back revealing the muscle underneath and a line shot into its skull. The remaining monster let out a mournful roar as Tyler pushed back.

"Oh, dear." Tyler smiled "You sound in pain."

He swept back his hair with blooded hands and let out a laugh. The monster roared with anger and received a wide toothy grin from the human.

"Did you think you were the only monster in here?" Tyler scoffed

Bloodied handprints started spreading out on the floor and walls around Tyler. The number of presences increased drastically and Tyler laughed again.

"You had wrong." Tyler grinned "You....were trapped with me."

The monster ran forward and Tyler prepared to attack. The creature jumped over him toward the power source and ate it. It let out a pained howl as its form changed and the corrupted energy within it increased.

Orange crystal covered Tyler's hands, feet and mouth. The mouth crystal snapped open revealing rows of teeth and he roared monstrously at his enemy. His hand crystal extended into long claws as a smirk appeared on his face.

Tyler smiled at the new monster in front of him. They stared at each other monster to monster prepared to fight to the death.

Somewhere in a hidden location, a screen was alarming like crazy.

"There are large converging points of spiritual energy. Earlier we detected three points but one has disappeared before our men arrived." a person informed their superiors

A superior ordered, "Get to the other two sites quickly."

"Um....one problem: one point is in the middle of the forest and nothing was there."

Another superior smiled, "Try again...or else. Find what you're not seeing."
