Hendrick's eyes narrowed the moment Zion slipped two fingers into the inside of his chest pocket. A sharp, instinctive suspicion flared in Hendrick's gut, and when Zion pulled something out— a small flash drive, his gaze locked onto it.
What did that young man say earlier? That he had his secret?
Zion said it so casually, so matter-of-fact, like a man announcing the weather, but the weight in those words was anything but light. The flash drive twirled once between Zion's fingers before resting in his palm. A deliberate show.
Hendrick's brows furrowed. He kept his expression neutral, but his thoughts raced. Zion's voice faded into the background for a brief moment as Hendrick's attention flicked from the flash drive to the man holding it— Zion, still smiling with that same irritating calm, like someone who had already won and was now simply waiting for Hendrick's reaction.
