The couple spent an hour shopping before taking an early lunch at the new shopping mall.
Callum decided to buy the latest high-end tablet for Nyla for her off-work entertainment. He feels that opening the world of gaming apps to Nyla is good for her well-being too. However, at the back of his mind, he also knows that Nyla may use this as a more convenient gadget than a laptop during meetings.
After lunch, they went back to the office.
As they alighted the elevator, they saw Heidi and Percy seriously discussing something on the computer.
Most of the receptionist's duties comprise scheduling. However, learning the nature of the business knowing the client, grasping the basics of the most intricate process, and knowing the boss himself is not simple.
"Let's take a break. You're a breeze to teach. I think this work will not be hard for you. Besides, our boss may look imposing but he is one of the kindest people in the company."
Heidi noticed the two approaching and smiled at them.
"Why are you back from lunch so early? Percy might get dizzy if you teach everything in one go." Nyla teased them.
"We had an early lunch at the pantry. Percy is a sponge. But we are taking a break now, don't worry."
Percy just sat there like an obedient child with a refreshing smile on his face. His notebook and pen are on the table with scribblings on both pages.
"Haha, you're so cute, Percy. I bet visitors on this floor won't be too nervous once they see you before the president."
"Hey, don't scare the child," Callum said to Nyla.
He looked at Percy and said, "It is true though that normally people were nervous if they got called to my office. I hope you can help me lessen their nervousness."
"I will try my best, Sir. Thank you." Percy answered respectfully.
"Here, Nyla insisted on buying a lot of pastries. You can put some in the pantry and eat some yourselves. We'll go in."
Callum put down the paper bag on the table and then pulled Nyla smoothly. He placed his right hand on Nyla's waist while a few paper bags, big and small, were on the left.
A soft word of thanks was heard from the two receptionists. Nyla waved goodbye at them and smiled as she let Callum lead her inside the office.
When they got inside, Nyla embraced Callum tightly. Like letting go of an urge to squeeze something cute.
"Hahaha! You want to pinch Percy, am I right?" Callum let Nyla have her fill and let her squeeze him a few times.
After which, he put down the bags and handed one big bag to Nyla.
"Here. You bought these for them. Hand it over then come back to rest."
"Rest?" Nyla teased but retracted. "Oh yeah! Be right back!" She gave him a peck and went outside.
Callum went inside the bedroom and set the aircon at a comfortable temperature. He also went to the bathroom to take a quick shower.
Nyla just literally dropped by outside to give the big paper bag.
"Here, cutie white lamb for our baby Percy and chubby penguin for sister Heidi. I'm going back. The boss is waiting." She said all these while handing things over and walking away without stopping.
The two again, just shouted their gratitude and laughed together as they hugged their new stuffed toys.
When Nyla went inside the hidden bedroom and noticed the neatly arranged suit on the bed. She knew Callum was inside the bathroom.
She carefully removed and hung her dress, then removed her undies to join Callum.
As she approached the foggy bathroom and called softly so as not to startle him.
"Daddy..."
Callum looked back and saw her.
"Come here."
He reached out to a hair clamp by the sink and handed it over to her so she could gather her hair.
"Quick shower after a quickie. Careful not to wet your hair, just wash it tonight."
With that, he moved with her, skillfully satisfying both of them in less than 20 minutes.
After washing and dressing up Nyla put on her usual makeup and started arranging the pastries, charging her new tablet, admiring the 1000-pc-puzzle box with Sea Glass Beach in it and fixing other things from the bags.
Callum already resumed his work piled on the desk. But his mind is a bit elsewhere.
Nyla noticed this.
"What's the matter?"
"I just realized. We all took a liking to Percy the moment we met him but doesn't he look a bit like you? Here..." Callum opened the CCTV live app on his desktop and showed it to Nyla.
Nyla pulled her rolling office chair and sat beside Callum. Together they peeked at the two receptionists currently hugging their stuffed animals.
"See, your nose and eyes were almost the same. it's just that when he fully smiles, his eyes will turn to half-moons. Yours kinda just turn into slits"
"Hmmm, his surname is Mill though. What about his mother's side?" Nyla was thinking about this seriously.
"Are you seriously thinking that you are related by any chance?'' Callum gently coaxed her to sit on his lap.
As she sat obediently, she said her frustration.
"Well, can you blame me? I grew up with no siblings or cousins. I played by myself when I was young. I have very few friends growing up. I didn't even know what sleepovers feel like. It would be great if I find a long lost cousin or sibling even." She rested her head on his neck. Then after a while, she jolted up when she remembered something.
"What's the surname of my birthgiver now?" She asked him.
"Birthgiv— oh, you mean your— haha, okay I get it." He kissed her lightly before continuing. "Her name now is Anyssa Klein. What's your—" Callum stopped again.
"You know what, we won't get to the bottom of this without proper channels. Let's start with HR first and inquire about their routine background check." He suggested.
"You're right. I can also chat with him when I have time." Nyla stood up and pulled her rolling chair back to her desk.
"Yeah". Callum already reached for the office phone and called HR to start their little investigation.
Meanwhile, outside, two attractive men in formal suits for their 1 pm appointment came out from the elevator.
