Eva looked down, her fingers curling slightly as if grasping at fragments of memory.
Then it hit her- the conversation between Xylon and Sylvan, that day before everything blurred, before she let herself fall asleep in Xylon's arms.
Her breath caught.
"That's what it was all about…" she murmured, more to herself than to Akuna. "Sylvan is inside him…"
She looked up at Akuna, eyes wide and shimmering.
"They're keeping him trapped," she said, her voice trembling. "They… they—"
"Eva," Akuna cut in gently, stepping closer and guiding her to a chair. "Sit down."
Eva resisted for a heartbeat, but Akuna's steady hands and calm tone grounded her. She sank into the seat, chest tight, breath shallow.
Akuna knelt in front of her, meeting her gaze. "Xylon assured me he's not going to be a threat," she said softly. "So breathe. Calm down. That demon is so strong … ."
But Eva's hands were already curling into fists in her lap, heart pounding at the weight of what she now understood.
