After staring at the single drop of black liquid on Emma's fingertip, realization slammed into Nyx like a tsunami, her eyes widening in disbelief.
'I-Is that what I think it is?' Nyx thought, her mind racing as clarity settled over her about the mysterious drop.
'Unbelievable… this is a poison even I'm not immune to. It could kill me in an instant!' she realized inwardly, terror rising at the thought of what Emma might unleash on Cassius.
A strange pity flickered through her then — Cassius was about to die in a manner far worse than a clean death, a suitably cruel end for a fool who had provoked them.
Cassius and his men stared at the black drop with puzzled faces, and very quickly they began to sense its power simply by being near it.
A burning ache spread through their lungs as they inhaled the vapour rising from the liquid. It smelled oddly sweet, like perfume… only deadlier.
