Arren had a staring contest for a few seconds with Spade before he averted his eyes and glanced at his father, who was also startled at this sudden encounter.
It was Arren who shattered the almost awkward atmosphere, at least for him and approached his father and Spade, who was still staring at him.
"Your Majesty," he still needed to pay his respects. After all, personal feelings aside, this man was still the emperor.
Of course, Arren only wanted to excuse himself and proceed to his room. Not only didn't he want to meet him, but much more in his current state and attire.
He was only in his pajamas! Just as he was about to excuse himself, the emperor spoke.
"It's been a while... Arren." He said it in a soft tone, as though he were truly happy to see Arren.
Arren, on the other hand, was quite dumbfounded after hearing this tone, which was too friendly and even familiar. It wasn't something that an 'emperor' would say to a son of the Duke that he visited.
