"…What are you guys doing?"
"School stuff."
Zahara tilted her head as she watched Abaddon help Odessa write inside of a colorful children's booklet.
"…Are you all not bothered by that hole in the ceiling?" Zahara pointed up.
Abaddon and Odessa looked at it for a moment before returning to their workbook
"Not really. We'll be moving soon anyway, we're just going to wait for Ayaana to finish her process, and then we'll find somewhere new to live."
Zahara continued to stare at her husband for a long time, unmoving.
He put down his crayon and stared at her with a slight look of amusement.
"If you want something, you should say it out loud. I can read your mind, but I like my women to be bold."
Zahara took a deep breath. "…I do not believe I would like to stay here. It makes my skin crawl for reasons I cannot explain."
Abaddon was pretty sure he knew why because he was feeling the same way.
