The unprepared Ava Kent was startled by his voice and hurriedly looked at Julius Goodman, relaxing only when she saw he was unaffected.
Julius Goodman turned off the electric carving knife, carefully placed the jade in his hand back on the table, and then turned to look over.
Before he could ask who it was, he noticed Ava, and his gaze immediately softened, "Ava, you're here."
"Yeah."
Ava nodded, walking towards him, "You left your clothes at my place yesterday. I've washed them for you, here you go."
Julius took the bag from her hand and casually placed it on the table, "I could have picked it up myself, how could I let you wash it for me..."
"What's the big deal? You used to help me with my laundry a lot, didn't you?"
Ava was talking about when they were kids. Unlike the calm and quiet Julius, she was lively and active, often getting herself all dirty playing in the yard.
