She recalled her strength, she recalled her power, and it manifested itself in the form of energy, blue energy that no sonar could perceive but with might like nothing in this world could compare to.
Interdimensional Soul Energy.
But that was not something that Cassandra could recall now. She had it at the tip of her tongue, just now, this energy... she could already see it.
Tony could use this energy for his new reactor!
[Sir, there is an incident happening three kilometers up north.] Jarvis said all of a sudden while Cassandra reorganized her thoughts and struggled to recall, only ending in a miserable headache.
"What is it, Jarvis? Some Mugler?"
[Wells Fargo Bank is being robbed by a group of dissidents, sir. There are hostages.] Jarvis explained the situation; this wasn't some minor robbery.
"Cassandra, something is happening. I'll have to leave you." He said all of a sudden, breaking the legendary Pandora out of her reverie.
"Take me with you."
"It's dangerous."
"I can protect myself." There was ultimate confidence in that voice.
"You're so stubborn." He sighed and flew away together with a smiling Cassandra.
"I merely despise the idea of separating from you, for even an instant." Snuggling against his chest, she kept those words for herself.
**
"It's Iron Man!"
"Please help us, there are hostages inside!"
The yells didn't make themselves wait amidst the noise of police sirens.
"Dammit, it's Iron Man!" The criminals inside the facility, holding dozens hostage, immediately knew who this person in the red armor was. As for the blonde, it must be his girlfriend that he's trying to show off to. It is the playboy they're talking about.
The fact that he felt so confident in himself, enough to bring his girlfriend here, kind of pissed them off.
There was a group of seven men, six of them inside the building keeping the hostages, one of them aiming his gun straight at a terrified woman's head, while the leader seemingly walked outside like a hooligan, holding his gun with cautiousness. So long as the other six were inside, he'd be safe.
At least that's what he thought.
Cassandra's eyes scanned everything very quickly, perhaps quicker than Jarvis.
"Listen, Stark, we only want transportation, and we're off. Your hostages safe and sound. We will take one and leave him or her down the road once we escape, simple!" He started to demand more than voters demanded a newly elected politician.
Little did he know that, just like in the metaphor, the politician would never deliver. In fact, he'd laugh his ass off.
"Oh, really? Don't you want some coffee as well? You demand more than a spoiled kid at Christmas... listen, punk, this is what's going to happen. You're going to lower your guns, come out, kowtow three times, ask for forgiveness, and we're done… police come, take you all, you spend twenty years in prison, hopefully not dropping the soap in the middle of the shower, and then you come back out safe and sound." He summarized everything very well as even Cassandra giggled at the mini-story.
"Is this robbery a joke to you!?" The man pointed his gun forward toward Tony, and that was his first and last mistake.
"It is. Come on, we don't have all day." Iron Man thought the gun was a joke, but someone else didn't.
To her, someone pointing a gun at Tony's face was a matter of utmost importance.
!!!
He didn't know how or when, but before he even knew, Cassandra was already by the man's side, covered in a blue hue as her hair waved. Her visage was so cold that he couldn't even compare her to the woman he had known for a week.
*BOOM!*
The sonic boom came too late.
*BAANG!!*
Her leg kicked the man's rib before anyone could even react, yet by the time he was sent flying, she was gone again.
*BAANG!!!*
The next one to be sent flying to his doom and possible death was the man who had been holding his gun against the hostage inside the building.
*BOOMM!*
Another sonic boom. They came like old lagged recordings, utterly incapable of keeping up with the origin.
Iron Man started to shoot his beams at two of the assailants, and by the time he did it, she had already blasted away three more, their fates unknown... more dead than alive, probably.
Everything ended too quickly.
Cassandra appeared beside him while holding a man by the neck as if he was a dog, his body bent in an odd shape after the kick he received, the leader… she threw him like trash in front of Iron Man.
"Cassandra…" To say he was in disbelief was not an accurate term. Others were awed; they yelled at Iron Man's new companion and saw them as equals, cheering.
Little did they know that Iron Man himself didn't understand what the fuck just happened.
He blinked thrice, and everything had already finished. A man lay in front of him, contorting in a painful shape, while the others... who knows where they are, perhaps on the other side of the city.
"Sorry... they were talking too much. He's not worth your time." She didn't like him spending his precious time with trash when he could spend it working on his new reactor or something else.
"I see, thank you… we need to discuss this, by the way... next time, at least tell me before you do it. It took me by surprise." Of course, they needed to talk about this!
That was insane!
"Whenever you want." She smiled and hung onto his shoulder, wrapping her legs around his waist... this wasn't a princess carry; it was something more... he cursed at the fact that his iron armor destroyed any wisp of sensitivity.
The two flew out of there, leaving a case that had been obviously solved. As for the criminals? Bad luck for them.
"Hey, Jarvis..."
[At your order, sir.]
"Play Shaggy, 'It Wasn't Me.'"
[Immediately...]
Yes, the inventor was content.
