No way, no way, someone like Victor probably only trusts himself in this lifetime.
When Victor came in, Polly was still pondering this issue, but the moment she saw Victor, her expression changed instantly.
Andrew Lindsey put the lunchbox he was holding on the table, "Miss Turner, there are some things I'd like to ask you about. Could you please step outside with me for a moment?"
Emma Turner glanced at Polly and then at Victor. Even a fool could see what this meant.
But for the sake of this handsome assistant, she agreed to step out.
After Emma followed Andrew out, Victor finally spoke with a cool tone, "That's all you're capable of? Throwing a cup of coffee and getting yourself sick over it?"
Polly puffed up her cheeks in anger, "I was just exhausted, really exhausted. If it wasn't for you, why would she target me? Victor, did I kill your ancestors in my past life? Nothing good ever happens when I encounter you."
Polly's chest was heaving with anger. As she cursed, she seemed to think of something.
"Victor, you knew about this long ago, didn't you? You knew she plagiarized my main design. Otherwise, how would she know I was in M Country, or manage to so coincidentally end up at the same hotel?"
"Polly!"
Victor suddenly interrupted Polly's questioning tone.
"Care to say that again?"
Polly's stubborn neck slowly, quietly, but obviously retracted, "It's just... just a reasonable guess."
Seeing the girl back down so easily, Victor's rising anger completely dissipated. She was truly something.
"And you wanted me to thank her the other day? I knew a weasel paying a New Year's visit to a chicken has no good intentions."
"You knew, and didn't take precautions?" Victor sneered, opening the lunchbox as he sat by the bed, "You're quite lucky to still be alive. It's purely heaven's protection."
"Just to make my life hard, she would even sacrifice her own future and reputation? She's got money, fame, and benefits. What's the point?"
Victor paused slightly while serving porridge, then looked at Polly.
Polly was taken aback, "Wh-Why are you looking at me like that? Did I say something wrong?"
Victor continued serving porridge, "No, for once, you're actually being smart."
"I feel like you're not complimenting me, you're insulting me." Polly glared at him with puffed-up cheeks, feeling that he only got into a good mood by mocking her.
Victor handed her the porridge, "Do you want me to feed you?"
"I don't need that." Polly snatched the bowl and started drinking the porridge herself.
"I will get you justice for this, but Polly, if there were models, what are the chances you could recreate the Qushui Liushang design?"
"Pfft, cough, cough..." Polly choked on the porridge.
Victor grabbed a tissue with a hint of disdain and wiped the rice grains off the corner of her mouth.
"I initially thought I could find an entirely new design, at least a way to salvage the Parker Corporation. Polly, apart from the management team, there are 36,054 employees under the Parker Corporation, of which 17,067 are low-skilled service staff. If the Parker Corporation collapses, it's manageable for the rest, but these thousands are at risk of being outcast by society."
Polly listened dumbfounded to Victor's words. She had assumed that someone like him, the Crown Prince who could easily ascend to power, wouldn't see the struggles of those at the bottom. She thought he became the CEO simply because it was naturally his position.
He fought against those old shareholders because he wasn't someone who would be controlled, so he sought absolute control.
But then...
"Confident before, but now you're speechless?" Victor saw her dazing off and smacked her lightly on the forehead without much force.
"You..." Polly was nudged by him, and all her favorable impressions shattered instantly. She mentally exploded, hoping this man would just blow up.
"Clara, is Polly feeling better?"
Outside, the voice of the professor's wife caught her attention, causing Polly's nerves to spike. She moved faster than her brain, suddenly jumping out of bed, pushing Victor into the bathroom, and shutting the door with a slap.
Before the professor's wife could enter, Polly quickly rushed to the door, opening and closing it in an instant.
"Mommy, what's wrong?" Benny asked worriedly, seeing his mom's nervous demeanor.
"Mommy, boohoo, mommy scared the baby. Mommy is supposed to be resting." Tommy clung to her leg, crying.
Polly really wasn't in bad shape, it was just overexertion and pent-up frustration. She had actually improved a lot after sleeping all afternoon, but they were concerned, so they'd kept her in the hospital for another day.
"Mommy is fine now. See, isn't Mommy doing well?" Polly was worried, fearful that Victor might suddenly come out, but she still patiently comforted her eldest son.
Tommy wasn't as mature as Benny, and he really could be scared to tears.
Benny furrowed his little brows and kept looking inside, always feeling like Mommy was hiding something from them.
Tommy was finally happy after being cuddled and comforted by Mommy.
"Auntie, I'm really fine, I'm going home tomorrow." Polly pinched her son's chubby cheeks, clearly hastening them to leave.
"Grandma, since Mommy's fine, let's go back first." Benny took Professor Lynn's hand, obediently helping to defuse the situation for Mommy.
After all, if that person was really inside, he couldn't let him be seen.
"Alright then, you rest well. Once it's over, don't let it affect your health," the professor's wife comforted as she prepared to leave with the kids.
Polly looked over at Emma Turner, signaling with her eyes for her to hurry and send them away, making sure they wouldn't come back.
Emma understood, picking up little Tommy, "Come on, Auntie will take Tommy home."
Tommy was delighted, lying on Emma's shoulder, waving his little paw goodbye.
Benny was led away by Grandma, looking back at Mommy as they went. Only when Polly waved back did Benny leave at ease.
Polly stood by the door with a sigh of relief. When she entered the room, she found Victor sitting on the bed watching her.
Polly: "..."
She felt incredibly guilty.
"I've never met your auntie? Why hide?" Victor knowingly asked.
"I'm afraid my auntie would beat you up if she saw you." Polly said self-righteously, "President Parker, if you have no other business, you can leave."
Victor snickered but didn't call out her little lies, "You haven't answered my question."
Polly then remembered what he had said earlier, "I need to see the model first to know if I can recreate it."
"Alright." Victor said as he got up, grabbing his clothes from the side, "I understand."
Polly watched him leave. What did he understand? Was he going to show her the model or not?
