Chapter 1 - The Dove's Fate

In the countryside , in a shammock near the end of tillaha village a young girl with golden Auburn hair was filtering through the fields and managing the barn.

Sweat droplets constantly accumulated on her forehead due to the hot rays of the sun hammering on her. Without bothering about it she zealously did her work and at dusk went her merry way to her home , a few miles into the village.

On her way she hummed a tune and first took a small detour to the night market.

She first went to the chicken stall and gave a small bubbly greeting to the stall owner,"good evening junea'h how are you today , I want some good chickens for I m going to make braised porks for dinner"she greeted the stall lady as she sifted through the chickens habitually.

The stall lady beamed a smiled at her and greeted back with an equally enthusiastic reply," Kenery it's good to see you child. braised pork you said what's the occasion? you are coming from the fields right? how was your day, did any other person bothered you again?

" Yes junea'h I m coming straight from there and my day was good. Thank you. My cow gave birth today so I m going celebrate it with my parents. Do you think I would let anyone bother me? she Said right back

oh good good child hope you heavens mercy on you like this always.

here is all please pack this all up for me" I said as I pointed at all that I wanted"

And junea'h do stop by my hut I'll leave you a portion of it.

A hundred watt smile greeted her back and junea'h also with happines gave a little more portion than what she asked for.

After that she went to a few more stalls to look for other ingredients that she needed for the feast tonight.

All the stall owners gave her a little more than she asked for happily and then she went to her way home.

Her arms laden with the jars of milk and ingredients for the night feast and her little bag which contains her empty Tiffin box.

Though carrying 5-6 bags making it equal to her weight she still happily walked to her home while gazing at all the beautiful scene of setting sun and dusk birds chirping loudly and humming a tune of unknown origin.

She walked for six miles before she reached her home.

She opened the wooden door of no more than four woods and walked the small padded path to the shammock of two stories tall.

She first went to the courtyard and kept the few bags on the side and first feed the few goats and cows with grass. after feeding them. she locked the courtyard gate again and went inside the house.

she gave an enthusiastic greeting to the the two people inside , her aged parents and told them all about the day.

Her father who was a farmer once got his leg injured making it impossible for him to continue the work. Nowadays if he can move around much that is also considered his blessing. And her mother though old has rammrocked gait and during the day she teaches the children of the village.

The money earned through all the work keeps them going on averagely and the small family lives happily through it.

Momma I m home"

Ireah how was your day ? And what is it that you are carrying so many Bags?

it was good Momma Oh these are the chicken I brought from the market and also the milk from the kid of the cow which gave birth today.

oh so harea gave birth? how was it

Yes the cow is very cute and healthy and harea also.

Good Good. And so today I m going to make a feast for you all.

Sure dear.

how is father btw

He is good. he has taken medicine so he is sleeping.

Oh then I'll first make dinner then wake him up.

With that I strutted into the kitchen and started making the food.

An hour later the smell of cooked food slowly spread into the surroundings.

With that there was sudden knock on the kitchen's window.

After cleaning my hands with the cloth I opened the window's latch and a few happy faces greeted me.

Ireah are you making a braised pork ?do you need any help. it smells really good. can we have some

with a mischievous face I said," but there isn't enough food"

the happy faces soon became crestfallen.

looking at their sad faces I couldn't control myself anymore and laughed out aloud, but there is still a few of it left"

as the words fell on them the sad faces lit up like large bulbs.

I distributed a portion to them and then left the rest for junea'h

I woke dad from his slumber and ate the feast with them. After cleaning up the dishes I made my way up to my room. after washing up I slumped on the old creaky wooden bed and gazed at the big window by bedside.

My gaze flicked at the large moon hovering in the sky and my thoughts soon drifted into the wonderland.
