The clone was to fool the village security the yamanaka clan KSD to be precise he was to play as the real naruto while he gets out of village and possibly somewhere far so konoha don't find him easily he will try at least stay "alive" a weak so the original naruto can get stronger outside of village faster via fighting real battles and going "AMAZING ADVENTURES!!" he exclaimed loudly then smacking his mouth shut
