Her Black judge's robes felt like they were made of lead as she took a look at the growing stack of envelopes being placed on the edge of her desk in her chambers at the judicial hall. She had heard rumors that were little more than whispers spoken by staffers who claimed to know someone who knew someone who worked in the office of a Predator or Archon in Central, that a big change was coming to how immigration, identification, and port authority cases were handled.
Xylian Orion reached for the envelope that was on top of the current stack and pulled out the case folder it contained before rubbing her eyes and guessing how much all the paper and ink cost taxpayers just because old legal code had provisions requiring physical documents for legal procedures involving the court system for reasons most didn't care to know.
The bottom of the first page told her everything she needed to know.
