At Leonel and Roz's silence, Isolde suddenly froze, blinking once before realization struck her like lightning.
She'd done it again.
Her big eyes rounded as she gasped inwardly.
She was acting strange again — completely unbefitting of a proper young lady. She immediately coughed between her fists, straightened her posture, and attempted to act cute. Unfortunately, her expression remained blank while her voice came out flat and robotic.
"Ah yes. They were cute. It's such a shame. My heart ached when I killed them, but it was necessary."
Roz slowly turned away. "Please stop."
Leonel covered his face, shoulders trembling. "You're only making it worse," he muttered, torn between laughing and crying.
The silence that followed was painfully awkward. Even the wind seemed to pause in pity.
