Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 – New Game.

"Okay.....With that, installations, the system check-ups.... Yeb. Everything is done. All systems are good and connected as well. The capsule is now ready to use." – said the man with UTO written on his back.

"If something comes up, please contact us." – said the other man, who was also wearing UTO written on his back as he started packing up his tools.

"Yea. I got it. Thanks." – said the man with the scar across his forehead as the pair of men left the man's apartment.

"Now then. Let's see what we have here."

It was the year 2039 and the era of games had just begun.

Computer games. Board games. Mobile games. Card games.

Chess. Poker. Rock Paper Scissors. Hide and Seek. FPS. RPG. Survivals. Explorations. MMO. Trading Card Game.

And the list goes on and on.

Pretty much there exists countless games in the existence. And pretty much everybody can find a game they enjoy.

However, a game is a game in the end.

BUT!

What would you think if you could go INTO the game world itself? A REAL WORLD OF THE GAME?

Introducing: VRDS (Virtual Reality Dimension System).

This is a special type of device that allows you to dive right into the world of the game itself.

The device that is mostly produced is the [VRD Capsule], or just called the capsule.

This device allows you to enter the world of the game.

It exists in two different forms.

The private form, where you can order your own capsule to be installed in your home, or the center capsule, where you go to the game center, where you can rent a capsule and play there.

The device also comes in a special model similar to the VR headset, but it requires a special device called [Home VRDS Device].

The difference in models doesn't affect the gameplay at all, but the capsule allows you to play without worrying about the real world, while the headset makes it easy for you to play in small rooms. So, both the capsule and headset have their own benefits and downsides.

Anyway, I think it's time we stop talking about them and instead talk about their function: The game dive.

When activated, it will transport the consciousness and mind of the user into virtual reality, just like in novels and comics. You will become a being of that world. You can feel and express your emotions. Eat and feel pain! Just like in real life!

Not only that, but the company that developed this headgear also developed the first ever game that uses it and that is called "Unwritten Tale Online" or UTO.

With the appearance of the VRDS and UTO, the world of games ended up entering a new era.

The era of the real world games.

(A thing straight out of fantasy huh? Well, they are not wrong. You only hear about a world where you enter the game itself in novels or comics… But to think that some childish dream could become reality and humans can now enter the world of the games? This sounds beyond stupid..... And yet, here we are.)

 "…"

"Honestly, I have to accept reality, since right in front of me is literally a device that can put me into the world of the game… So, it's not like I can deny it or anything."

 ".."

"So, I put this thing here and connected this cable to the computer."

"Setting up. Logging in to the account on the computer. Register the device."

"And done."

"If the light on the side near the [open up] button is blue. That means it's ready to use." - said the man, noticing the small lamp on the device, giving off the blue light.

"Okay, that seems to be the case. So, let's jump in."

The young man opened the capsule like device and entered it. After setting few things inside the device, the man just laid down comfortably and pressed a button, causing it to slowly shut the top of it, before then pressing a much larger button with [Start] written on it.

And upon pressing that button, everything around him started changing.

All of his senses felt weird and unknown with each passing moment.... Before it stopped and the man straight up felt anything, confusing him, and making him thing that the device may had broken down..... But before he could even do anything, everything around him suddenly started changing shape and sizes, before then, the space around him started stabilizing.

"SHIT!"

"Okay! That took me by surprise."

"It felt really freaking weird, but I think it worked?" – said the man after looking around, noticing the weird space he was in.

(I mean it did worked. I'm literally not in my room anymore but in this weird space.)

"?!"

(Holy shit?! What the fuck is with my body?! I look like some digital thing?!)

"Is this… Normal?"

(But the weird thing is that I feel everything just like in real life. They weren't kidding one bit…. That is a bit scary in a way….)

(I can also move my body pretty much without a problem, even though I was just in the capsule just a moment ago.)

(I'm trying to move my hands and arms where the capsule walls were but I can't touch anything.)

(Honestly, it's quite cool but also a bit creepy when you think about it. So, I literally disconnected from the real world and connected to this world? What would happen if somebody did something to me in real life while I'm playing? Would I even feel anything? Would I feel anything if somebody were to stab me to death in real life?)

(…)

 (This is… Safe? Right?)

 "…"

"Em… Let's just ignore that for now and play…"

"Hm? Something appeared."

"Log in huh? So I just log in with any other keyboard out there? Honestly, I was expecting like a face scan or some other futuristic-like thing, but okay."

The man begin typing something on the floating keyboard in front of him.

[Login successful.]

[Log in into the chosen game: Unwritten Tale Online.]

Suddenly the entire space around the man changed into grass land.

"Wow."

While the man was looking around, a floating giant board appeared in front of him.

[Welcome to the Unwritten Tale Online.]

[New account detected.]

[Do you wish to create your new character?]

"Yeb."

[The main aspect of the Unwritten Tale Online is freedom. There is no main quest or specific path. You have complete freedom. You can create your character in any way you want. You can help people or kill them. You can be a hero or a villain. You can be the lord of a territory that protects its people or a bandit that plunders others for your greed and enjoyment. The choices are infinite and they are all yours to make!]

[To begin the character creation process, please press the "Start" button.]

The man pressed the button on the floating board.

[Well then, shall we start?]

[Beginning character creation.]

[The character creation is divided into 3 different phases.]

[1- [The body.]

[2 - [The ability.]

[3 - [Creation.]

[1- [The body.]

[The body phase is about creating your avatar, the you of this new world.]

[It is not only about the appearance, but it's also about your race.]

[Each race has its own benefits and downsides. Some races even possess subraces that can also influence your character abilities. So please be careful when making your character.]

[Please also note that when creating a character, your race and sub-race may also influence your starting location options.]

[2 - [The Abilities.]

[In UTO, the most common way of getting the skills is via classes.]

[When acquiring or growing the classes, you will be able to obtain some skills.]

[There are other means of getting skills, such as [Special Skills] that you can get by nonstandard means or [Item Skills], skills that items possess. But we won't bother about them for now and leave information on them in the tutorial menu if you are eager to learn more.]

[But for now, we shall talk about classes.]

[In UTO, there exist something called [Classes].]

[There are many different type of classes that can focuses on different things.]

[Some are about combat, while some others may be about something not related at all to combat and instead be just focuses on things such as blacksmithing or just farming. Each skill can give you skills that may each possess their own specialty or effect(s).]

[In UTO, the players can possess multiple classes.]

[So, how do you get a class in the first place? Well, you use a special resource called [Class Points].]

[When playing the game, the players will come into possession of the special resource called [Class Points].]

[What are these class points used for? Well, for acquiring classes and growing them.]

[By using a specific amount of class points, you are able to acquire a class.]

[Each class consumes a different amount of points.]

[However, having enough class points isn't enough to obtain the class, you also need to "unlock" it before you can "obtain" it.

[And the method by which you can obtain classes varies.]

[First are normal classes, the classes you can pick and learn whenever you want.]

[The second are evolved classes. Some classes can evolve when specific conditions are met, for example, reach this class's max level or something.]

[The third type of class are condition classes. These classes you need to fulfil specific conditions, for example do this or do that, but you will probably encounter the most common type of classes where you have to get 2 or more different classes at the specific level to unlock a class.]

[The fourth type of class are nonstandard classes. This type of classes cannot be acquired by normal means and the only way to obtain them is via things such as items, quests or maybe some sort of trials.]

[Anyway, now we should talk about 2 important things about classes.]

[The first are skills you can get from each class.]

[Each class provides its own skills; some skills may provide their own unique skills or may influence other skills. Some skills can have passive or active effects.]

[The number of skills each class provides depends on the class itself.]

[So, now you are wondering, how to raise the class level?]

[Well, most of the time you will have to feed the class with you [Class Points]. However, some classes may possess conditions to raise their levels.]

[For example, you first need to raise to the specific character level or maybe you need to level up specific skills to the specific level.]

[Each time the class levels up, it will provide you with either new class or an upgrade to the current class you own.]

[Classes can also provide the user with the skills, but it doesn't always happen per level. Sometimes classes only provide very few skills, but if the class doesn't provide a skill, it will instead boost one of the skills in your possession related to the class, meaning if you didn't get a skill, instead one of your skills would get powered up.]

[What kind of power up? This:

-The skill will gain (+1). This thing will boost the class's performance in different ways depending on the skill. Not only that, but the skill can get this upgrade several times, meaning it can become (+2) or (+10). The upgrade effect varies from skill to skill. Some may have the same effect when the class levels up, or maybe has a different upgrade effect, or maybe upgrades the skill like the level up AND provides additional effect.]

[The max level that each class can possess depends on the class in question.]

[Sometimes the class can have 100 levels but will have only cost of 1 class point to level up or there may be a class that have max level of 10, but needs 10 class points to even level up once.]

[Well, to raise a class level you need to level up its skills. How do you do it? Simply put, there are 3 ways.]

[1 – Use the skill in question.]

[2 – Do the action related to the skill. For example, sword-related skills will receive EXP whenever you use your sword.]

[3 – Use a skill that belongs to the same class, class category, or from the related class, like a branched class.]

[You need to remember, just having a lot of skills doesn't make you stronger. Sometimes skills with level 2 or 3 can be stronger than 10 level 1 skills. So please be careful when you are making your character build and take that fact into consideration.]

[One more thing about classes.]

[Anyway, here is a bit more info about classes. Some classes can possess rarities such as [Common] or [Rare]. These classes can often show how strong the class can be or how hard it is to get one. But please remember that high rarity class doesn't mean better, if it doesn't fit 1 bit to your current build, so be careful.]

[The third part is creation.]

[This part is quite simple.]

[It's an explanation.]

[So just allow me to explain.]

[But before that, here is some info about [Stats].]

[Main stats]

[HP: 110/110]

[Health: 11] [The stat that represents character life. If it reaches 0, then the character dies.]

[MP: 110/110]

[Mana: 11] [A resource type energy that is often used by many things. This source of energy is very often used by skills, meaning you need it to activate them.]

[SP: 110/110]

[Stamina: 11] [Stamina is necessary when doing physical activities. Some skills may require stamina as a resource to activate an ability instead of MP. Reaching 0 SP may cause negative status effects.]

[Strength: 6] [The stat that influences physical strength. It can influence the performance of some weapons by making them more powerful. The higher the stat, the heavier equipment you can equip.]

[Agility: 6] [The stats that influence the attack speed and speed. It can influence the performance of some weapons by making them faster and deadlier.]

[Intelligent: 6] [The stat that influences the performance of the spells and some skills.]

[Vitality: 6] [The stat that influences the defense and amount of damage blocked.]

[The shown stats are called "Base Stats". These stats are stats that everybody has.]

[However, there also exist "Extra Stats" that can be acquired by various means and they provide special bonuses.]

[Whenever the players level up, they will receive:

-5 class points.

-10 stat points.

-+1 to all stats.]

[After reaching level 100, all the rewards you would get from now on would increase by:

-Bonus 2 class points.

-Bonus 2 stat points.

-Bonus 0.5 to all stats.]

[That bonus would be applied over and over again after every 100th level.]

[You probably realized this and yes, this is the [Creation] phase.]

[Your skills and overall abilities are heavily influenced by your stats.]

[With enough [Strength] you can lift and swing a giant sword with ease, while with high enough [Intelligence], the power of your spells would end up getting a huge boost.]

[Each point of stat matters when it comes to creating your build and please be wary of that. You may get some sort of OP class in the future, but if your stats build doesn't match, then the performance of that class may end up getting weaker. On the other hand, if you get a class that fits your current stats, its performance may be way better than the OP class performance.]

[So, not only be wary of what classes you pick, but also the fact that your stats influence the performance of your classes.]

[Well then. This is all that needed to be said.]

[But not quite.]

[Stat, skills, race.]

[There is one more important thing.]

[Tittles A.K.A achievements (But most of the times they will be referred as titles.)]

[Tittles are something like a story.]

[Your own actions will write your tale and you will leave the evidence behind both on yourself and this world.]

[Be it small or big action, if there is enough impact, the title will be generated according to your deed.]

[Unlike classes or items, titles have a different ranking system.]

[Common, uncommon, rare and so on. Higher rarity title means that the requipements of obtaining it are way harder to fulfil.]

{{Note: In early chapters there will be A,B,C, D system. I'm currently changing it. Sorry.}}

[Depending on how big of an impact you make on yourself, your story or this world if not all 3 combined, the stronger the title will be and the stronger the effect it will be.]

[But in the end, there is one advice we can give you.]

[Writing and freedom.]

[You write the story.]

[Your choices.]

[You are the one with the pen.]

[You are free to do whatever you want to do.]

[Write your own story the way you want!]

[Be the hero who defends the weak or be the wicked villain who brings harm for no reason.]

[Be the king who led their people or just a bandit who steals from others.]

[It's your own tale to write!]

[Evil? Good? Screw it! You decide!]

[Be free!]

[So have fun or not, it's your choice.]

[Now that that is over, I say "Welcome" and enjoy yourself.]

"…."

"Huh…. Honestly, it was a bit of a long tutorial for the character creation..."

(Well, there was a lot of info, but pretty much everything seem very important, so I'm not exactly complaining.)

[Do you wish to start the character creation or do you wish to look through the information bit more?]

"Nope. Let's start creation."

 [Character creation will start.]

[You are allowed to take any of 3 steps in any order you want.]

[You starting with 110 stat points and 55 class points.]

"Hm… Let's go with classes."

[Tamer] [Water Mage] [Warrior] [Swordman] [Archer] ….

(Wow… The list just stenches on and on.)

(And this is probably only a bit of the classes you can get in the game.)

(Just how many classes did they put in this game in the first place?!)

(Still, is there anything interesting in here?)

 (…)

 (Hm… I think I will go with mage…!)

[Poison Mage] – [Level: 0/100] – [Class Point cost per level: 2]

(Oh! Poison? I really like using characters in games that do damage over time, like poison or setting enemies on fire.)

 (It's very tempting.)

 (But only 2 points?)

 (…)

(The max level is 100 and its only beginner class… So, I would need to put 200 points to reach the max level. 200 / 5 is 40. So, I would need 40 levels to reach that class max level, if I were to put all points into poison magic.)

(So does that mean I have to put all of the points into it?)

 "Ah, screw it."

(Let's go with poison, but it's better if I pick 1 more class.)

 "…"

 (Hm…. There isn't-)

 "Wait."

 (Alchemist and blacksmith?)

(Hm… Maybe getting a class that makes items will be pretty interesting?)

[Alchemist] – [Level: 0/100] – [Class Point cost per level: 1]

[Blacksmith] – [Level: 0/100] – [Class Point cost per level: 1]

(Not only that, alchemy and poison? Doesn't that sound like an interesting combo?)

(Okay. Let's go with those two!)

[You have invested class points into [Beginner Alchemist].]

[You are unable to put any more points into [Beginner Alchemist].]

"???"

[To unlock ability to raise [Alchemist] level, please level up skill [Alchemy].]

"Oh… So, there is a catch…. I should have seen that coming considering how cheap of the cost the class has…."

(Hm… Then should I spend points on the third class?)

 (…)

(Nah. Let's just spend all points into poison magic.)

[Class: [Poison Mage]-[LVL:22/100] [Alchemist]-[LVL10/100] ]

[Unspent class points: 1]

[Do you wish to finish this phase?]

"Well, I think so. I mean I literally did all I could."

(Now… What should I pick for my race?)

[Human] [Elf] [Dwarf] [Lizardman] [Orc] [Goblin] [Beastman]…

(Wow… There is also shit tons of races… Some of them also have sub-races….)

 (Hm… I don't want human… Seems too plain?)

 (…?)

(Demon folk? A humanoid demon… Huh…. Seems interesting?)

(…)

 (But nope.)

(Maybe, if there is nothing interesting….?)

 [Undead]

"Huh. You can be undead here?"

[Undead]

[Natural defense (Vitality stat) against necrotic and poison increased by 100% (Increase user defense against these elements.)]

[Increase damage taken from holy and light elements by 100%]

[Allows you to live without breathing.]

[Resistance to bleeding (Low). The effects of the bleeding-type attacks and bleeding effect will be weakened, and very weak poisons will be completely nullified.]

[Resistance to poison (Low). The effects of the poison-type attacks and poison effect will be weakened and very weak poisons will be completely nullified.]

[Decrees performance of the light and holy elements and skills by 100% (Cannot fall below 1%).]

[Decrees overall healing received from holy and light elements and skills by 50% (Can fall to 0% healing received.)]

[Allows the body to be reattached more easily.]

[Remove needs to eat. Are still able to eat food and use consumables that requires to be drinked or eaten. However, without the need to eat, the stamina and health restoration from eating will be removed, unless the object eaten possesses a special stamina restoration property.]

[Skeleton]

[Increase base vitality stat by 10%]

[Decrees resource consumption (MP, SP, HP) by 5%. Doesn't affect HP lost when getting hit or attacks that decreases user MP or SP.]

[Zombie]

[Possess MP, SP and HP regeneration 2.]

[Sub race]

[Choose one sub-race belonging to any race. However, the effect of the race is only 50%]

[Eating may boost your regeneration of resources (MP, SP, HP). The bonus can be increased up to 2 and will linger after some time after no longer eating.]

(Only 2 options?)

 (Hm….)

 (Wait…. Can undead use potions?)

(I mean, in some games, things like healing items are harmful to the undeads, right?)

"Em… Is there anything like a help button or something?"

["Hello."]

"?!"

 "WTF!?"

["I'm customer service A.I that was placed in order to assist the new players regarding the character creation."]

["Customer said "Help" and so I activated."]

["Is there anything you want to know? Or did you say HELP by accident?"]

"…"

(Holy shit… Is this really A.I? I mean… They did said that the NPCs are like real people and all… But that feels bit creepy. I think I will need some time to get used to it…)

 "…"

"Em… Actually, I'm wondering about undead."

"Can undeads use things like potions and stuff?"

["Affirmative. Undeads are able to use potions."]

["However, some potions' effects may not affect undead or be harmful, especially potions containing the holy element."]

"Em… Then what about regular potions like healing and maybe other stuff?"

["It works."]

"Both zombie and skeleton?"

 ["Yes."]

(Huh… So, if I were to pick undead… I could make up for the healing debuff with potions?)

(That does sound like a good idea.)

(However, the increased damage taken from holy and light elements by 100%? Not only does skill performance decrease and even healing received decrease if it is related to holy or light, it looks WAY too punishing.)

(I mean, I do see a lot of benefits with being undead… But these downsides are hitting very hard as well.)

(Pretty much I won't be able to play with party that has some healers or something, right? Well, I was planning on playing solo in the first place, but the downsides are pretty much cutting down classes I can pick.)

(However…. This seems like an interesting race.)

 (Now…. Skeleton or zombie?)

"…"

"Question. How does the regeneration work? The 1 point of regeneration works like what?"

["It works every second. If the regeneration is 1, the player will regain 1 point of resource every second."]

(…. Then let's go with zombie. The resource consumption honestly sounds way better if you look at it, and the vitality stat increase also sounds good.)

(But there may be times when I need more healing, and considering that I cannot heal or restore stamina by eating.)

(The skeleton seems like better choice if I'm being honest, even for solo player.)

(Even if you were to go mage like me, you would still have a little bit of defense, AND with the resource consumption decrees, you can use big attacks more easily, but I'm quite curious about zombie.)

(I mean, usually things like death knights or liches in games or novels are skeleton-looking ones, right? So, playing as a zombie may be interesting, and the bonus doesn't bother me one bit.)

(As for the sub race… Hm…... What the hell I want to go with?)

 (….)

(Orcs, nope. Elves also nope... Wow.)

(I guess the perfect option for me is human?)

(But do I really and I mean, really want to go with them? I mean, they are straight-up humans – Boring.)

(Is there really nothing else that can fir the thing I'm aiming for?)

 "…..."

 "Nope…. Nothing fits…...Hm…..."

(I really don't want to pick humans, but it seems to be the only option I can really pick..... A screw it. I really don't want to screw up my build.)

(Besides, they are not my main race anyway, so I guess its fine.)

[Human]

[Every 5th level, obtain 1 extra class point.]

[No other weakness or bonuses.]

[The effect is halved. Reason: Undead]

[Effects are changed to:

[Every 10th level, obtain 1 extra class point.]

"As for appearance…."

"Let's keep it simple. I will set the height on the 1.86 m since this is my real height. Short hair. No over-muscular body, a slim one will do. No scars or tattoos. Let's not try to make too young or too old."

"Dark green hair and bright green eyes…. And done."

"Next stats…. Put a lot into mana and intelligence… And rest equally between all other stats."

"…."

[Starting equipment.]

(Hm…? Oh. Let's go with that.)

"…"

 (Okay. This looks quite solid.)

[Would you like to finish the character creation?]

"Yeb."

[Please write down your character name]

"Let's go with my usual nickname in games."

[Phantasia]

[Do you wish to continue with your current settings?]

[Yes/No]

"This will do."

[Character creation process finished.]

[You have chosen a random starting area.]

[You will be teleported to the random starting area according to your choice.]

[Oh, by the way, a heads-up warning.]

"?"

[The first log in feels a bit weird. So don't be scared.]

"???"

As soon as the messenger appeared, the body of the man began to change into data and lift towards the air.

"Well then, let's see what this game has to offer."

A man's vision started to disappear before going completely blank, and his body completely disappeared, which ended up alarming the man a bit.

However, even though his body was no longer there, he could feel it and it started to feel… Weird? As if he was swimming and flying for a moment, before moments later a sudden stiffness appeared across his entire body.

While the man body was acting very weird, a sudden a bright light emerged around him, catching him off guard.

However, he also realized that the light wasn't the only thing that appeared; his own body had begun slowly reappearing, but now with a much different shape and form before then breaking apart once again.

Moment later, the man could finally open his eyes once again and before he realized, he was already in some sort of settlement where he was surrounded by a lot of different people and weird data particles that collided with each other before fusing together and creating new players.

[You have been transported to the beginner town Mim.]

"…"

 (Okay… I think I'm in the game…)

(BUT WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT ON THE START?!)

(They could give up the warning before I logged in! Jezus! Was that a prank or something made by developers?!)

 "…"

The man quickly calmed himself down before then starting to look around.

(This must be a starting area by the look of things. It's packed like hell with people. Literally, the game has just released and this place is already filled with people.)

(?)

(Huh…. I thought there would be a more… Humans or something? I see humans… But I also see dark elves, dwarves and orcs?)

(Oh, right… I'm undead… So, it does make sense that I will find myself in some starting area for the less "Human" starting races. Or is it because I just chose a random starting location?)

(The pop-up window said this is beginner city Mim. I think this is one of the places mentioned on the websites. Honestly, I chose the random starting area since I didn't know what to pick.)

(Anyway, this place looks interesting. It does gives off a nice fantasy like vibe.) – thought the Phantasia while looking around.

The man approached the fountain near him and looked at his reflection.

The man's appearance looked that of a man in his 20s with dark green hair and bright green eyes. Besides his eyes and hair, his overall appearance was very average. However, his dead skin and unliving look obviously made him look non-human.

(Huh. I really do look different. On top of that, feeling. I feel like I'm moving just like in real life. Cool and creepy at the same time.)

The man tried doing different things, trying to test out different things.

(Jumping. Pinching myself. All of it feels real. I heard it took years to make this game, but how many years are we speaking of? Honestly, I'm quite curious right now.)

(Honestly, I want to take a look around and all, but I don't know where to begin.)

"?"

(People are gathering over there. What for?)

Phantasia noticed a group of people gathered nearby, piquing his curiosity, causing him to notice what the players were looking at, which turned out to be some sort of board. This in turn made Phantasia even more curious as he approached the giant board himself, only to stop once he got close enough after a system pop up window appeared before him.

"?"

 [Quest has been generated.]

[Lil Blue Slime Hunt]

[Rank: G]

[Alright rookie! Time to show what you got! Go and hunt monsters called lil blue slime. You can find them in the west and south after leaving the town. You are able to sell any item drops you got from the monster to the NPCs.]

[Slay 5 lil blue slimes.]

[Reward: EXP]

"Huh."

"So, it's like a starting quest."

(I see some people are already running off and some people are looking around.)

(Hm... Okay. I can look around later. Maybe it's better idea to head straight toward the hunting grounds. I had once or twice a problem with hunting in MMORPG games where everybody hunted in the same area, I had to wait for the monster to respawn to finish a goddammed quest.)

(I would rather avoid doing that bullshit. So, I'd better make a run for it.)

Phantasia quickly left the area while people were still fixed on the board and their current situation, and headed straight towards the southern part of the city in order who leave the town.

"…. Wow."

(I wonder who designed this? This place looks straight out of another world. Well, I'm technically in another world.)

(Or am I still in my world? This is virtual reality. My body is still in the real world. But how I my still consciousness is here and I can even feel this body and all. Or I somehow splinted into two different people? How in bloody hell does that work?!)

"Well, I would probably not understand really. This is stuff straight out of the novel and all."

(Anyway, by the look of things, I reached the exit already. I can see a few people behind me and in front of me heading in the same direction. By the look of things, I wasn't the only one with this idea. Let's just hope we won't get in each other's way.)

Phantasia passed the city gate and when he did, he saw a gigantic grass field, stretching everywhere around the city.

(Wow. This looks nice. And the grass…. Smells just like real grass and feels like grass when touching it. The details in this world…. Are way too good… And bit scary in their own way?)

"?"

(I think I can see some trees far ahead? Maybe it's a forest? Can't say. Got to go bit closer.)

(Anyway, I don't see any monsters, even though I left the city. By any chance the area around the city is safe zone? Maybe if I walk bit further away from it, I will find some monsters to fight.)

Phantasia begin walking thought the grass field, moving farther away from city gate.

"I wonder how far I have to walk until I- "

'SQUISH'

(?)

"What was that?"

(My foot just bumped into something soft?)

Phantasia looked down and saw a small ball of liquid with eyes.

[Lil Blue Slime] – [Level 1]

"Huh. It's quite cute."

(It's level 1 and it looks quite weak. By the look of things, this is the monster I was supposed to find and kill.)

"…."

"…. Fuck me. It's quite cute if you look at it. I kind of want to pet it."

Suddenly, the slime began to wiggle around before then jumping straight at the Phantasia.

"Whoa!"

Phantasia moved to the side, making the slime attack miss him.

"Right. Kind of forgot it's a monster."

"Sorry, little bud."

Phantasia took out his crossbow and aimed it at the slime before then firing it.

The crossbow bolt flew and hit the slime dead on, right in the middle of the slime's body.

"Pi!" – the slime made a noise when the bolt hit it.

"Piiiii…..."

[You have slain Lil Blue Slime – Level 1.]

[You have received 2 EXP.]

The moment the slime died, its corpse began to emit a particle-like effect where parts of its body were being slowly turned into particles, and after some time passed, the entire monster corpse was gone.

(Huh, so this is like a death animation in this game? The body slowly turns into particles and disappears.)

"Anyway, something dropped on the ground."

[Lil Blue Slime Goo] [Lil Blue Slime Core]

(Item drops, huh? It looks just like that slime, but way smaller and without eyes or anything. Can this thing even be used for anything?)

[EXP: 2/10]

(Huh. I almost leveled up. I guess I have to kill 4 more if I want to level up.)

(Anyway, this feels quite nice. I can feel the crossbow and its weight. Also, firing it feels and seems very real. I can tell that using weapons will be interesting.)

 (However, what about the magic?)

Phantasia looked around and before long he found another slime monster nearby just jumping around in cutely way.

"So… According to the tutorial menu… I have to do this?"

 "[Poison Shot]."

A magic circle suddenly appeared right in front of the man's palm. before a moment later, a bullet made out of purple poison was fired at the slime, killing the monster instantly on the hit.

[You have slain Lil Blue Slime – Level 1.]

"Huh… It really worked?"

(Not only that, that was a magic?)

(I know this is the weakest magic, since it was from the level 1 [Beginner Poison Mage] class, but still, it looked interesting?)

(I got to hand this to the developers. If this is just the start, how much fun would I have as I start playing more and more of this game?!)

Phantasia went around, hunting for any slimes he found, and killed them before anybody else could get them before him.

[You have slain Lil Blue Slime – Level 1.]

[You have slain Lil Blue Slime – Level 1.]

"Huh… That really only took few moments." – said Phantasia while trying to catch a breath.

(I guess coming here before too many people got here was a good idea. But I can already see more people coming out from the settlement.)

(Anyway, only one more slime to go to level up and finish the quest.)

Phantasia beginned looking around.

 "…."

"Ah! There."

Phantasia aimed with his crossbow at the slime monster, however before he could shot, a man ran straight at the slime and slashed it with his sword, killing it before Phantasia could.

"Hey, what was that for?" – said Phantasia.

"Hm? What do you mean?" – asked the man with the sword.

"I was about to shoot it. What the hell man?"

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know."

"…"

 "!"

Phantasia spotted another slime near him and tried aiming with his crossbow, but the man wielding a sword jumped in again and stole the kill.

 "…."

"Ah! Sorry mate!" – said the sword-wielding player.

"…"

Phantasia didn't responded to the man and looked around for another slime, and only afte few seconds he manage to find the slime and aimed once again with his crossbow at the monster.

However swordman also noticed the slime and Phantasia aiming at the monster, causing the man to face a smirk before then for the third time the swordman jumped in and killed the slime.

 "…"

"Em… Well- "

Before the sword-wielding player could say anything, the man got hit right in the head with the crossbow bolt.

"?!"

"What the fuck?!" – shouted the man with the sword.

"Huh… Even though I hit you in the head, you didn't died? I guess those beginner weapons really suck ass and can only kill the slimes?" – said Phantasia to himself.

"?!"

 "The fuck- "

 "[Poison Shot]."

Phantasia didn't showed any mercy and fired the poison projectile at the man, hitting the man before he realized.

After getting hit in the face, the man ended up getting on his knees while having a confused look on his face

The man stared in disbelief as Phantasia was not even showing any remorse or anything and was just staring up trying to kill him.

The man tried to get up, but Phantasia didn't showed any mercy and just kicked the man right in the face, knocking him completely on the ground.

"Fuck! You motherfucker!" - shouted the pissed off swordman as he tried to slash Phantasia, only for non of his slashes to even get anywhere near him.

The man tried to get up in panic, but as soon as he did, he saw the Phantasia holding the reloaded crossbow that was being pointed right at him.

"…"

Phantasia pulled the trigger and fired the crossbow bolt at point-blank range which ended up hitting the man right in the eye, killing the player.

 "…"

"This is just a start, so let's troll around some people and have fun." - said Phantasia, mocking the player he just killed.

 "Yea? Fuck you buddy."

(I'm not some "Buddy" or friend, so do you really think I won't just murder you on the spot?)

It was the first day of the game.

And yet, somebody dangerous had already shown up.

Someone who will bring chaos to this new world.
