"How the hell did Vulcan move?"
"Look! The minions are gone!" Alecia pointed with a shaky finger at the patch of air where a moment ago a halo of tiny Vulcans had buzzed like angry fireflies.
"Could they have died because of the Lava Beam?" Rafaela's face pinched with worry, though the corner of her lips twitched like she was fighting a wildly inappropriate smile. "Is that even possible—that it could… kill its children?"
Ruru pressed her hands to her cheeks. "The horror."
"Never mind that! Cure Evie now!" Silvia snapped, jolting the others from their trance.
Ren was already there, hauling Evie by the forearm up from the lava's edge. Steam hissed off her soaked boots. The venom-red Burn icon flickered once and vanished as a clean green light washed over her.
"Sorry," Evie murmured, head bowed. She uncorked two [Health Potions] with her teeth and downed them in quick succession. Her HP jumped, then steadied.
