"Claire, you said that without batting an eye," Sebastian said, giving a thumbs-up.
"Pay attention in class, okay," Claire Green glanced at him casually, the last word clearly carried a threat.
Sebastian's body stiffened slightly. Could Claire's double standards be any more obvious?
Resigned, he tucked his head back in, straightened his spine, and focused on the lecture.
John Sinclair smiled, "Hey, Fatty, why so quiet all of a sudden? Just because Claire said a word and you suddenly became a model student!"
As he spoke, he kicked Sebastian's chair.
Suddenly, he felt a chill down his spine, turned his head sharply, and saw Claire Green looking at him with idle amusement.
"Go on, speak," Claire raised an eyebrow, smiling faintly.
Under her gaze, he didn't dare utter another word.
He was sure that if he spoke any further, he'd be the next subject of her attention.
John Sinclair shook his head vigorously, obediently took out his book, and stared intently at the blackboard.
Seeing this, Claire slowly lowered her head and started playing games.
On the podium, Lawrence White sighed, wondering why such a pretty girl lacked ambition.
...
At night, the Song Manor.
The Song family of three sat at the dining table, eating quietly.
Suddenly, Olivia Song appeared troubled and hesitated as she spoke, "About Claire's situation..."
Before she could finish, Dane Song interrupted, "What about her now?"
Since that girl left the hospital, she hadn't returned to Song Manor, and she ignored multiple phone calls. He couldn't be bothered to care anymore.
To the Song family, Claire Green was only useful for her blood.
Olivia glanced cautiously at the two of them, speaking softly, "I don't know what's going on with Claire, but on her first day at the new school, she got into a fight, and yesterday she even upset their physics teacher so much they left."
"Bang—"
As soon as she finished speaking, Dane Song angrily slammed his chopsticks on the table.
About Claire transferring to Brightsong, Sammie had mentioned it to him. Although he didn't know how she got in, her every action represented the Song family.
Fighting classmates, upsetting teachers—either one of these incidents would make them a laughingstock in their circle.
"Olivia, why are you only telling us now," Sammie Ziegler on the side saw his anger and looked disapprovingly at her daughter.
Olivia blinked, "I only heard about it from Rae today."
"Alright, I'll call her in a while and tell her to get back here," Dane Song waved his hand for them to continue eating.
Olivia continued eating with her head down, her lips curling up slightly.
After dinner, Dane Song made a call, only to hear the icy voice on the other end say that the number was unavailable.
His expression darkened immediately; he had been blocked.
Noticing his reaction, Olivia asked.
"Dad, what happened?"
Dane Song didn't answer, reaching out, "Give me your phone."
He used Olivia's phone to try again, and this time there was no message.
...
Over on her side, Claire Green was lounging comfortably in her new home, lazily browsing the M.K website.
Suddenly, the phone next to her rang. She glanced at it sideways but didn't pick up.
The phone continued to ring persistently. Her eyes darkened slightly as she reluctantly answered.
"Claire Green, you get back here right now."
It was Dane Song's furious voice shouting on the other end.
Claire Green lounged on the sofa lazily, responding with a lazy tone, "Getting so worked up, be careful you don't hurt your liver."
On the other end, Dane Song's face stiffened slightly, his hand clenching slowly.
Resisting the urge to throw the phone, he gritted out, "Claire Green, don't think just because you've moved out and found some unknown sugar daddy, I can't touch you. Get back here immediately."
Claire's face displayed a lazy smile, but it didn't reach her eyes.
"Dane Song, don't just talk big. See if you can back it up."
As for the term 'sugar daddy,' Claire snorted dismissively.
The call ended abruptly. In his anger, Dane Song thought venomously, tomorrow he'll have Brightsong expel her, and see exactly how much she can resist.
Olivia could tell from his expression that Claire had surely said some nasty things.
A hint of satisfaction flickered in her eyes. The worse it sounded, the angrier their dad would get.
Claire's fate would be obvious by then.
...
Early the next morning, Dane Song arrived at Brightsong, his first words to Thomas Ziegler were to expel Claire Green.
It startled Thomas so much he knocked over his cup; not bothering to clean it up, he carefully asked, "Mr. Song, who did you say to expel again?"
"Claire Green," Dane Song said in a deep voice.
He hadn't misheard. One is a major donor who built a building for the school, and the other a board member—he couldn't afford to offend either.
Thomas inwardly grimaced. It was just the start of the school year, but troubles had already arisen.
"Can I ask for a reason?" he enquired, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead.
Dane Song looked at him impatiently, "What, are you considering it?"
Thinking of Claire's demeanor, Thomas' heart quivered. He didn't want to hesitate either, but it was complicated, as she was someone significant and out of his jurisdiction.
Given the situation, he could only call her in to resolve it.
"Mr. Song, perhaps there's a misunderstanding between you. How about I have Claire Green come here, and you can discuss it face to face?"
He quickly grabbed his phone and made a call.
Over on her end, Claire Green saw the caller ID and raised an eyebrow in surprise.
"Yes?"
"Could you come to the office?" Thomas Ziegler's words were rushed, ending the call immediately.
"Claire, whose call was it?" John Sinclair asked curiously.
Claire Green stood up, lazily putting her hands in her pockets, "It's nothing, I'm stepping out for a bit."
Soon, she arrived at the principal's office and saw the king-like presence sitting inside.
No wonder Old Thomas was so flustered; he had to take good care of someone who had donated a building to the school.
"What is it?"
Thomas Ziegler glanced at her cautiously, "Mr. Song wants the school to expel you."
Upon hearing that.
Claire's eyes flashed coldly, a wild smile appearing on her lips.
"Who the hell does he think he is?"
"Claire Green," Dane Song stood up in anger, pointing at her.
Claire's gaze felt like daggers on his pointing finger. Her face remained smiling, but her words were swift and severe.
"If you keep pointing that hand at me, don't blame me for crippling it."
Seeing her serious demeanor, Dane Song quickly withdrew his hand.
"Principal, how can this school let scum like him in?" Claire leaned casually against the wall, her smile cold.
Thomas Ziegler remained silent. My little ancestor, how do I respond to that?
Admitting Mr. Song is scum? He wouldn't dare!
"Claire Green, how dare you insult me," Dane Song, understanding her implication, was furious, his eyes bulging with rage.
Claire raised an eyebrow, wearing a lazy, defiant smile. "Not only can I insult you, but I can also beat you up. Want to try it out?"
Dane Song was so enraged he felt an old rage lodged in his throat, stuck neither up nor down.
"Dane Song, stop testing my limits, or else..."
Claire gave him a cold glance, leaving a warning hanging in the air.
The remainder of her threat unspoken but understood.
Dane Song threw his cup to the ground in a fit of anger. Alright then, she's even daring to threaten him now.
Thomas Ziegler looked sadly at the shattered pieces on the floor, mourning for his favorite cup, wishing it well on its journey.
