Chapter 7 - Power

"Doctor, where is the Alpha? We may need help to restrain Harold. It will become unbearable for him, especially due to his weakened condition.

However, he will regain some of his strength as the spell begins to work and his wolf fights to be released. So, we must be prepared.

"The Alpha will be here any moment." Dr. Brinks said just as Sargon walked into the room, closing the doors behind him.

"Hello Alpha Sargon." Marie smiled with a slight blush. "Hello." The Alpha replied returning the smile. He then directed his attention to Dr. Brinks.

"Are we ready?" He asked. "Yes, Marie is ready to begin." He replied.

"Thank you for your help, Marie." This means everything to us all. I shall take care of your payment as soon as we are done here if that is ok." He said.

"Of course, Alpha. I am happy to help." She winked, as she returned to her process.

Marie reached into her satchel and pulled out a gold and black goblet, placing it on the small, surgical table near Harold. Next to the goblet, she placed a green herb and a few vials. She then walked over to the window and opened it.

"Do you have the restraints, doctor?" Marie asked.

"I brought them with me." Sargon spoke, retrieving the restraints from his satchel. One by one, he shackled Harold's arms and legs to the bed. He doubled the restraints on Harold's arms and attached the second set to the wall links.

Marie returned to her work area, satisfied with Sargon's work and lit additional herbs she removed from her satchel, waving the herbs around the room. "This will remove negative entities from our space." She said.

Sargon looked at Marie wondering just how many items could fit in her satchel as she kept reaching for additional items. She really was magical.

Marie pulled out a jar of black salt and began to create a circle around the room with everyone in the center of it.

"This protects us during the spell." She said. Marie returned to the Goblet and other contents.

"A dash of chamomile, basil and valerian root. Amethyst, Black tourmaline and clear quartz to cleans, heal and protect. A little rose quartz and jasper for self-love and empowering his spirit. He will need it without his wolf." Marie said, looking at the Alpha. He nodded his head for her to continue.

Marie began pouring additional contents from little individual jars into the goblet without explaining what they were.

"What are those?" Sargon asked curiously.

Marie smiled and put her finger over her lips in a quieting motion. The Alpha got the point and didn't speak further.

I guess somethings are better kept a secret. Sargon thought as he watched Marie work meticulously.

When all the contents were mixed together, Marie closed her eyes and bowed over the goblet as if she was praying. She then took a needle less syringe and filled it with as much of the liquid as possible, placing it on the surgical tray.

"This stone will help prevent the moon from having any effect on his wolf." She said, placing the stone around his neck and resting it on his solar plexus, beneath his shirt.

Pulling out five black candles, Marie placed them in a pentagram layout in the room and lit them clockwise one by one. She left the first set of candles close to Harold while they still burned.

"Remove his top." She instructed. Sargon immediately went over to comply.

With Harold's bare chest visible, Marie drew a pentagram with the drip of black candle wax on Harold's upper body.

When she completed the preparations, she closed her eyes and began humming and mumbling something.

Sargon looked at her a nervously. His gaze settled on Dr. Brinks who nodded his head towards Sargon to ease his frustration.

Marie's eyes turned from lavender and green to a deep, dark hunter green color.

"By the power of the sun and the moon, the stars and the spirits,

By the earth, air, fire, and water, I call to thee"

Marie chanted her words repeatedly. She then leaned in closer to Harold's ear and whispered:

"Lupus in te, mane in pace donec revertar"

Quickly, she moved away from Harold. The spell was cast.

A gush of wind entered the room knocking over everything in its path. The candles remained lit and undisturbed unlike the rest of the room. Marie stood firm in the midst of the whirlwind as Sargon quickly slammed the window shut.

The angry wind remained in the room, confusing Sargon and Dr. Brinks.

Suddenly, Harold's eyes shot opened to reveal a blood red, beaming anger. Growls from deep within escaped him as the fought to get up from the table. His fangs protruded from his mouth as his claws were exposed in his hands and feet.

"Hold him down, Alpha!" Marie screamed as her eyes began glowing while she used her powers to help restrain the beast. Sargon immediately ran over to Harold's upper body and held down his arms and chest.

"What is happening?" he shouted at Marie.

"He is trying to shift!" We cannot let him! He will certainly die. His strength has begun to surface. Doctor, grab his head and keep it still!" She commanded. Dr. Brinks, nervously did as he was told.

Harold viciously snapped at the doctor while he tried to grab his head to hold him still as he began thrashing back and forth in the bed.

While he fought to be released, one of the bed restraints snapped, allowing Harold to move easier.

Sargon pulled him back and kept him steady. He was the only wolf who would be able to restrain Harold in such a wild form.

Sargon used as much force as he could to hold Harold back so Dr. Brinks could steady his head.

As soon as Dr. Brinks was able to hold him, Marie stuffed the syringe into Harold's mouth as far back into his throat as she could without being bitten.

She released the liquid down his throat as Dr. Brinks forced his hands under Harold's chin and pulled back as hard as possible to close his mouth enough to force him to swallow the elixir.

"Hold him!" Marie shouted as the whirlwind continued.

As soon as the mixture was swallowed, Harold let out a loud howl.

Harold's fangs retreated along with his claws as he passed out on the bed, breathing heavily.

Dr. Brinks fell backwards, releasing Harold's face. Sargon slowly began releasing his grip on Harold.

"Is it done?" Sargon asked, as sweat beads fell down his forehead while he caught his breath.

"Yes, Alpha." She replied clearing her throat and regaining her composure. She began smoothing out her hair and cloak calmly.

Positioning herself at Harold's head, she used her hands to feel the energy from his wolf. Alpha Sargon watched intently as the minutes went by, seeming like hours.

"His wolf is asleep. With his wolf not fighting any longer, it will not fade so quickly. His wolf is very powerful, Alpha. We need to get it back as soon as possible." Marie said anxiously.

"His wounds! Look!" Dr. Brinks said, in amazement.

Harold's wounds had begun to heal rapidly. The spell was working. The Alpha and Dr. Brinks looked at each other at the same time in disbelief while Marie smiled confidently.

Sargon turned to her direction and gazed at her. He was completely stunned by her power.

"Come, let's go discuss how we will move forward." Sargon said, as Marie carefully gathered her things and cleaned up Harold with the assistance of Sargon and Dr. Brink's.

"When the maids arrive, a sign of a witch in the castle must not be obvious. We will need to eliminate any evidence and leave discreetly as you entered.

"Understood." Marie said as she cleaned up the last of her tools.

"Can Catelyn see Harold now or must we give some time?" Sargon asked.

"I would give him a couple hours. Place one guard outside of the room and one inside just to be safe. Catelyn can go in and sit with him shortly." She said, grabbing Alpha Sargon's hand and escorting him outside of the room.

Dr. Brinks followed them both as he noticed Marie and Sargon's easy interaction with each other.

As they left the room, they became face to face with Catelyn who looked like she cried the entire time. Her eyes were swollen and red.

"Is he ok?" She said with a hoarse voice.

Marie walked up to Catelyn and gave her a hug. She normally refrained from getting too close to anyone, so she wouldn't absorb their energy, but this woman needed comfort. Her heart was breaking for her husband.

"He did well, Catelyn. Marie said, pulling away from Catelyn to speak to her face to face.

"You should be proud of your husband. You may sit with him in a couple hours. We need to make sure it is completely safe for you to be alone with him, as the spell has just been cast. Guards will be on watch until then. Remember, he needs your love and your support more than ever now." Marie said with a smile.

"Th..Thank you…"

Suddenly, Catelyn's eyes rolled back as she collapsed in mid-sentence. Marie's reflexes reached out for her and held her so she wouldn't hit the floor.

"Dr. Brinks! She needs you!" Marie said hurriedly as Sargon lifted Catelyn away from Marie's arms.
