The little Goomy by Sabrina's side, when it saw the girl coming over, became a little excited, and sure enough, it turned out that they were good friends.
"Hi! I am Iris!" the girl cheerfully introduced herself.
"Iris...?"
"Just Iris," she said and shook Sabrina's hand.
"Sabrina Moonheart."
As soon as she heard the name, the girl's eyes widened in shock.
"You are the Vertress Conference Winner!"
"Yes..."
Aizen smiled as his Moon found another huge fan of hers but froze when the girl looked his way and her eyes shined again.
"You are the new Indigo Conference Winner!"
"Yes," he nodded before he stood up and then smiled as he shook the girl's hand. "Nice to meet you, Iris. I am Aizen Orayen."
"I know!" she cutely said and then introduced her Axew, and also called out her Sliggoo, who turned out to be the older sister of Sabrina's Goomy.
Iris also told them that the two were the children of Drayden's pair of Goodra, and the man was the Mayor and guardian of Opelucid City in Unova. He was also the former Gym Leader of the Opelucid Gym.
The two also learned that the girl was an orphan who had grown up at the Village of Dragons near Opelucid City, and that Drayden was her good friend.
Aizen grinned when Iris's eyes widened at the sight of the Charizard Y and X, and the Dragonite. He also called out his own Dragonite after she made the request, and he learned that the girl wanted to become the best Dragon Master in the world and also the Champion of Unova.
She was ambitious, brimming with confidence, and the Prince could sense that she was very blessed.
"Are you going to take part in the Vertress Conference this year?" he curiously asked, and she immediately shook her head.
"I will participate in a Conference when I feel like I am ready. I just started my journey two months ago, and I don't have the right team to win the League."
"So, you won't be participating in the League unless you are confident about winning it?"
"Yup." She grinned.
"Ambitious."
He laughed when he saw her nod her head to his comment.
"Do you have a sponsor?" he asked her, and watched her blush and lower her head.
"I did not do too well in my Licence Exam," she honestly answered him, and when he asked for her Pokédex, she obediently opened it and let him have a look.
Aizen smiled when he saw that she had barely managed to pass the exam and that she had a C-Class Licence.
He put her Pokédex inside his pocket, much to her curiosity, and then said something to her that surprised her.
"Let's have a Pokémon battle. I will evaluate your performance, and if you manage to impress me, I will find you a sponsor and also offer you the chance to become my apprentice and travel with me for the next two years."
"Are you kidding?" she expectantly asked, and seeing him shake his head, her mouth cutely dropped open.
When the surprise finally wore off, she became very serious and nodded her head.
The two decided that they would use two Pokémon each, and the Gym Leader rules would apply to Aizen.
As soon as his Braviary saw that he was going to have a battle, it flew over to him and requested him to let it fight, and the Orayen Prince agreed and sent it out first.
Sabrina became the referee and called out her Mega Alakazam who, with the help of her Mega Gardevoir, created a Psychic Barrier around what they decided was the battlefield.
"Round 1: Braviary vs Excadrill. Start."
"Excadrill, use Rock Slide!"
The girl immediately ordered her Pokémon to use the Rock-type move, and Excadrill created dozens of rocks around it before shooting them at Braviary.
However, to Iris's shock, the bird used Close Combat to eliminate the rocks, and the few that managed to hit it did not seem to hurt it a lot.
"Dig!" she quickly ordered her Pokémon, who immediately disappeared inside the ground, much to the irritation of Braviary, who let out an angry cry.
"Use Air Slashes all over the battlefield."
Hearing his command, the bird went wild and let out all its anger at the disappearance of his opponent.
Clouds of dust rose, soon making it too difficult to see, and Chief then flew higher into the sky.
"Metal Sound."
Iris ordered, and soon a horrible sound of metals scraping sharply against each other targeted Braviary, who cried out in pain.
"Rock Slide!"
Iris saw the opportunity and called out, and her intelligent Excadrill created rocks and sent them up into the sky.
Aizen smiled when he saw his Braviary get hit and suffer, but the tenacious bird flew higher up into the sky and then used Whirlwind.
It grew more upset when it saw that Excadrill had again disappeared into the ground.
"Air Slashes again."
Braviary did not know why his Master ordered him to use the same move again, but it obediently followed, and soon the cloud of dust appeared on the battlefield.
"Feather Dance." He ordered, and the wings of his Braviary started glowing, and then the glowing feathers, made of energy, rained down.
"Rock Slide!"
Iris soon realised that she had messed up, because the moment Excadrill came out of a hole, it got touched by the glowing feathers, and its body too started to glow.
Braviary saw it, and then it used Aerial Ace and dived down.
With a hit, it expertly pushed Excadrill high up in the air, and then unleashed its Close Combat, which was not perfect but was good enough.
"Superpower," Aizen ordered when Excadrill fell on the ground, in pain, and the Braviary smashed with his claws, putting all its weight and momentum behind it.
When the dust settled down a little, Excadrill was found unconscious.
Before Iris could recall it, Sabrina quietly teleported Excadrill behind Aizen, where his two Audino started healing it.
"Thank you," she sincerely said to them and then narrowed her eyes at the proud Braviary. "Go, Druddigon!"
Braviary dived down with his Aerial Ace when it saw the next opponent, but regretted it when the Dragon unleashed its Scale Shot at Iris's command.
"Giga Impact."
"Fly," Aizen ordered, but Chief failed to fly high enough in time.
It got hit by the powerful Giga Impact, which sent it crashing into the barrier, and its body ached in terrible pain.
Chief managed to get up again, and Aizen smiled at its tenacity.
"Brave Bird."
It was the last move of Braviary, and his bird put everything behind it as it crashed into the Dragon, who had tried to counter it with Dragon Claw upon Iris's command.
Both of them suffered as the result of the clash, and Braviary fainted as soon as it hit the ground and saw that its opponent had suffered greatly as well.
"Braviary is unable to battle. Druddigon wins the second round!" Sabrina announced the result of the round and asked Aizen to choose his next Pokémon.
"Come out, Kleavor."
Iris's eyes widened when she saw his menacing Rock Bug.
"X-Scissor."
"Dragon Claw!"
Druddigon did not even manage to make its move as Kleavor's X-Scissor proved too powerful for it.
However, sensing its Trainer's distress, it bore the pain and let out a terrifying roar.
"Outrage."
The Dragon's body was soon covered in a red hue as it went berserk, but to Iris's shock, the Kleavor expertly used Close Combat to block and deflect Druddigon's wild attack, simply because it was faster, and a minute later, her Dragon fainted when it received a Stone Axe.
"Druddigon is unable to battle. Kleavor wins the third round. Aizen wins the match."
Even though she had lost, Iris managed to smile within seconds and rushed to Aizen's side to check up on her Pokémon, who was being treated by the two Audino.
"You have powerful companions, who will only grow stronger together with you." The Prince complimented her and her Pokémon, and they all felt very happy in their heart at his words.
Iris nervously watched as Aizen went over to his backpack and then took out his own Pokédex.
He also did something with his watch, where a holographic keyboard appeared from it, and then he started typing before he sort of scanned her Pokédex.
She obediently stood by Sabrina's side and took a deep breath when he finished working and called her over.
Iris took a look at her Trainer's Profile, and her heart skipped a beat when she saw that she was being sponsored by the Blanc Laboratory and that her Pokédex was licensed by the Unova Council and by Professor Aizen Sin Orayen.
It was now a National Dex, able to identify and scan Pokémon from all over the world.
Her mouth cutely dropped open in shock as she stared at him, and he laughed at her cute reaction and also captured a picture of her.
"You are Professor Sin?!"
"Yeah." He laughed some more and stood up to pat her head. "Work hard now. I am confident you will be able to achieve all your dreams if you stay focused."
"I will become the best Dragon Master in the world!" she promised him and nodded her head, as if making the promise to herself all over again.
"Good. Do you have any plans for the coming months?"
"No." She shook her head, and he nodded.
"I will be heading back to Blanc Island in a few weeks. Come with me. And the start of the next year, you can join me on my travels through Kalos. Or you can accompany Sabrina or someone else who is associated with the Blanc Laboratory."
"Okay." She again cutely nodded her head, brimming with excitement, and he laughed.
Aizen made her day when he called out his Riolu, Shinx, Zorua, and Eevee.
Soon, she and her Pokémon excitedly started playing with them, and when she met Sabrina's Zorua, and then her Diancie, she was beyond excited.
The two Zorua and Diancie could even use human language, and she had never heard a Pokémon converse in human language before.
Diana then took her along on a flight on the Alpha Dragonite, and by the time they returned, Iris had already made up her mind about catching a Dragonite one day.
She fell into a trance when she met Sky and Atlas, who looked just as beautiful as they were menacing, and the two Dragons approved of her and even allowed her to touch them.
Aizen was even more certain that the girl was blessed by some Legendary Dragon, or maybe her bloodline came from the Draegor Clan or some other Dragon Clan who were already blessed. However, for some reason, he leaned towards his first guess.
And later that day, when he met Lyla in his sleep, he finally received his answer. The answer that shocked him to the core of his being.
