Hey guys Novaflame6_Badal here again. Sorry if I missed getting this out last week, but I'm here now. Anyways, the saint Seiya cast will make it's appearance soon. For now, just assume they're watching the games like all of the other onlookers. I haven't quite figured out their role in this story, but I'm piecing it together little by little... hopefully it's decent lol. Anyways take it away guys!
Wendy- R-right! Novablade wants to personally thank anyone who has taken the time to not only read, but also follow, favorite, and like (enjoy) the story so far. He says it means a lot to him.
Koga- And... now for the disclaimers!
Lucy- Novablade does not own Fairy Tail or Saint Seiya and it's characters. Those belong to their respective owners and writers. He only owns the oc's that appear in this story.
Koga- And now, without further ado... chapter 5 of Fairies and Dragons: Allies of the West! Enjoy!
Chapter 7: Wrath of the Flaming Nova: A Wizard's Tale
The arena fell silent as two female wizards, Erza Scarlet and Kagura Mikazuchi, stepped back from the impending battle. Their eyes were fixed on the confrontation about to unfold between Max Dragonblade of Dragon's Dawn Guild and Minerva Orland of Sabertooth.
"I would stand back at a safe distance if I were you," Max warned, his flame-colored hair glowing in the sunlight. "Things are about to get really dangerous here."
Both women nodded silently and retreated to a safer vantage point near a Lacrima screen that would allow them to observe the battle. Once they were clear, Max turned his attention to Minerva and deliberately released his magical power, letting her feel its crushing weight.
Minerva felt her knees buckle under the pressure of Max's magical energy. It was even stronger than when she had sensed it before.
"What's going on?" she gasped. "His magic power was never THIS strong before!"
Max slid into a fighting stance, his eyes locked on his opponent. "Well then, Minerva Orland of Sabertooth, shall we get started?"
Minerva forced a smirk to mask her growing unease. She was facing the strongest wizard from the guild currently leading the Grand Magic Games rankings. If she could defeat him, perhaps Sabertooth could regain some of its lost dignity.
The battle began with Minerva unleashing her explosion magic, which Max dodged with expert precision as if her attacks were mere annoyances. She combined her martial arts with her magic—a combination that usually had any wizard at her mercy—but not this one. Max caught her leg mid-kick and then did something unexpected: he allowed her magic to hit him without resistance.
When Minerva attempted a crippling blow, Max countered with a swift leg sweep. Growing angry at his defiance, she tried to stomp on him as he lay on the ground, but he caught her foot in a vice-like grip. Her eyes widened in surprise as she realized that while she had been boasting about her guild's superiority, Max had been steadily increasing his magic power.
"Are you done yet, Miss Orland?" Max asked, his voice tight with restraint. "I think I've heard more than I care to hear about how great your guild is! Do you honestly not hear the hypocritical drivel spewing from your mouth?"
"How dare you!" Minerva snarled. "You will learn your place and that's—"
"NO, YOU LISTEN!" Max roared, cutting her off. "The way you do things is wrong, and everyone can see it! The reason you're going to lose is simple—you don't know the first thing about how to draw upon a guild's true power! LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT REAL POWER LOOKS LIKE!"
Minerva tried to respond but found herself speechless as she witnessed the true power of Dragon's Dawn Guild unleashed before her.
"NOVA GOD CLOTH!" Max shouted.
"Nova God?" Minerva whispered in confusion.
A bright pillar of light erupted from where Max stood, white-hot flames surrounding him before settling on his form. When the light diminished, he was covered from shoulders to feet in luminescent white and gold armor, still surrounded by the glow of his flames. He shifted his stance with a series of precise arm movements, as if tracing patterns in the air. Minerva noticed his magical power swelling to extraordinary levels—clearly preparing for an attack spell.
Thinking she could disrupt his concentration, she launched her own attack.
"Yugado Rigora!" Minerva called out.
Too late, she realized her spell was too slow to counter what Max had prepared.
"NOVA GOD... PLASMA COMET FIST!" Max bellowed.
A blinding light flashed before what appeared to be hundreds of fists—moving so fast they resembled blazing comets—pelted Minerva from every direction. Pain wracked her body before the force blew her backward. Clutching her stomach, she tried activating her spatial magic, only to be rushed by Max again.
He approached with his hand in a clawing position as if to slash at her—a feint that Minerva completely fell for. As she moved to counter, Max pulled his arm inward and struck her gut with a clawed palm. She stumbled backward and discovered she couldn't move. Looking down, she saw a white stigmata emblazoned on her stomach.
"Curses!" she thought. "He must have the same attribute as Sting! I can't move!"
Max raised his clawed palm skyward. A blinding light rained down as he swung his arm into a fist.
"NOVA GOD... SEARING LIGHT!" he shouted.
The attack hit her like a sledgehammer, burning her numbed body with the explosion of light. But Max wasn't finished. With Minerva vulnerable, he charged a breath attack that would inflict even more damage.
"NOVA GOD... FLAME BELLOW!"
An explosion of light and white flames rocked the arena where Minerva stood. When she emerged from the blast, her clothes were torn, and burns covered her body, smoke rising from her wounds.
The crowd watched in complete shock. Minerva—one of the strongest wizards of Sabertooth—was being utterly dominated by Max, unable to even land a hit. Sabertooth guild members looked on in disbelief, while Fairy Tail observed with mild shock.
Deciding he had humiliated Minerva enough, Max prepared his final attack. A giant white magic circle appeared beneath him as Minerva remained immobilized by the stigmata spell. White flames gathered behind him as he launched the spell that would end the match.
"GOD SLAYER... MYSTIC ART!"
From the sidelines, a young girl named Wendy gasped. "What? Mystic Art?"
A wizard named Koga smirked as he explained, "Mystic Artes are the strongest of all slayer secret techniques. The only trade-off is the brutal training required to master one, which weighs heavily on your body and mind—until you master it like Max and the rest of us have."
"I see," Wendy murmured as they returned their attention to the match.
Max had adopted a stance similar to another dragon slayer named Natsu. Once he gathered enough power, he unleashed his technique.
"WHITE LOTUS... HOLY DRAGON ARMADA!"
Searing light and white-hot flames washed over Minerva as the spell engulfed her. What felt like hundreds of punches and a bolt of lightning pelted her body before an enormous explosion of light rocked the arena, forcing spectators to shield their eyes from the blinding flash.
Sabertooth guild members stood stunned. Their strongest wizard had been defeated with seemingly little effort from Dragon's Dawn. Max didn't even appear tired from the encounter.
"And... we're supposed to beat power like that?" Sting asked incredulously.
"I'm suddenly not liking our chances very much against them," Rufus admitted.
While his guild struggled to process what had happened, Jiemma, the Sabertooth guild master, was shocked. How could a wizard from a guild that was virtually unknown until four years ago defeat Minerva so thoroughly? It defied explanation. Could Dragon's Dawn truly be that formidable? If so, it would certainly interfere with his future plans.
He had to face the grim reality: as the standings currently showed, Sabertooth had no chance of catching up to Dragon's Dawn in the rankings. That guild was simply too far ahead and would spell trouble for any of his other wizards who encountered them. He needed to focus on a less threatening opponent for now—perhaps Fairy Tail, though they weren't to be underestimated either.
"Maxwell Dragonblade," Jiemma mused. "I guess there's a reason they call you the Flaming Nova. What terrifying power that boy has. Best to avoid him and his guild for the rest of the games—they're far too formidable an opponent for my guild, much as it irks me to admit that."
He resolved to observe the remainder of the games while plotting his next move. Jiemma wouldn't concede defeat so easily; he had unfulfilled plans that he was determined to see implemented.
Minerva lay unconscious on the arena floor, smoke billowing from her defeated form. Max lowered his hands and raised his arm in triumph as the announcer declared him the winner.
"We have a winner! Max Dragonblade has defeated Minerva Orland!" Chapati, the announcer, proclaimed.
The crowd roared in approval while the Dragon's Dawn Guild looked on with pride, and Fairy Tail observed in shock. One thing was now painfully obvious to Mavis and the rest of Fairy Tail: they could no longer afford to underestimate Dragon's Dawn. The blonde spectral first master of Fairy Tail adopted a thoughtful pose, reconsidering her strategy for the games. Their guild wasn't yet ready to face Dragon's Dawn, but fortunately, they had agreed to a temporary ceasefire until Sabertooth had been dealt with, giving Mavis and Makarov time to develop a plan.
Kagura and Erza exchanged glances, their eyes wide with amazement.
"To think that Minerva would suffer such a humiliating defeat is..." Kagura began.
"I agree, Kagura," Erza nodded. "It's surprising, to say the least."
As the two prepared to face each other in combat, Erza pondered Minerva's earlier revelation about Kagura being related to someone named Simon. She resolved to learn the truth from Kagura herself during their upcoming battle.
The scoreboard now showed the standings after day four of the Grand Magic Games:
Dragon's Dawn: 54 points
Sabertooth: 38 points
Fairy Tail: 30 points
Mermaid Heel: 25 points
Lamia Scale: 25 points
Quatro Puppy: 22 points
Blue Pegasus: 18 points
All eyes turned to the impending battle between Erza and Kagura while, elsewhere in the arena, the other four members of Dragon's Dawn's team were on the move, each with a target in mind. Honoo, who had replaced Yukikaze to allow her rest, headed toward Erza and Kagura. Koga made his way toward the confrontation between Baccus, Ichiya, and a member of Quatro Puppy. Kazuma approached Jura, Laxus, and Olga, while Mist moved toward Rogue and Gajeel.
As the leading guild sprang into action, the remaining guilds braced themselves for brutal combat. If any of Dragon's Dawn's members were as powerful as Max had just proven to be, they would have their hands full indeed.
Master Makarov of Fairy Tail was visibly nervous as Derek, presumably another guild master, smiled at him.
"Looks like it's beginning, Master Makarov," Derek observed.
"Indeed it is," Makarov agreed. "The final stretch of the games."
Another wizard named Reynar added, "Don't worry about the others; we'll weed them out if needed. I hope for a good showing from your children, Makarov. Why don't we end these games with a bang? May the showdown between our two guilds be one this crowd won't soon forget."
"Yes," Makarov nodded. "I do hope they're prepared. Go, my children! Make this a battle they won't forget!"
With Dragon's Dawn on the move after their decisive victory over Minerva, the question remained: could any of the remaining guilds stand against them?
To be continued in Chapter 8: The Hunt; Fall of the Tigers part 1
Hey Guys, Hope you enjoyed this chapter! Wanted to mainly focus on the fight with Minerva this chapter so I apologize for the lack of the other characters getting screen time. I may or may not cover the Erza vs Kagura fight. If I don't, just assume it goes relatively the same as in the cannon story. Also I couldn't remember how many points I gave Lamia Scale last chapter lol. So if you're confused as to why they suddenly have 25 points this chapter there's your reasoning. In the end, I have decided that I will pair mist with rogue unless a good enough reason is given for me to pair her with one of the other male characters. I like having Sting x Yukino being a thing so I decided against breaking that one up.
I have something in mind for Minerva, so no I will not be leaving her as a villain. it'll come later on. The short sequence between Koga and Wendy, he's communicating to her telepathically. Forgot to mention that lolz. The saint Seiya cast may appear next chapter, but as I said they're observing the games. We'll see. Now for the preview!
Wendy- Next time on Fairies and Dragons: Allies of the West...
Koga- Things get really dicey this time around.
Lucy- It's the final stretch before Fairy Tail's showdown with Dragon's Dawn! And it looks like they have Sabertooth in their sights.
Koga- It's a race between Fairy Tail and Dragon's Dawn to see who can eliminate Sabertooth first, but the other guilds are caught in the midst of their struggle.
Wendy- Next time.. The Hunt; Fall of the Tigers part 1!
Koga- See y'all in the next one!
Wendy- And have a great rest of your week.
