Chapter 9: The Hunt II: Fall of the Tigers part II; Sabertooth Eliminated?

The Celestial Observers: A Battle Among Guilds

In the grandstands overlooking the arena, a distinctive group watched the Grand Magic Games with keen interest. While not widely recognized within Fiore Kingdom, this guild commanded significant respect in the neighboring country. Despite its modest size compared to Fiore's magical guilds, Athena's Sanctuary compensated through the exceptional power and prowess of its members.

The guild specialized in a unique form of magic known variously as Cosmos, Cosmic, Constellation, or Star Magic—considerably more potent than conventional magical practices. Its practitioners identified themselves as Saints or Zodiac Knights, with core members manifesting zodiac spirit signs through their magic.

Among these observers sat a crimson-haired teenager named Koga, the Saint of Pegasus, who displayed visible impatience at Dragon Dawn's methodical approach to securing victory in the Games.

"That wouldn't exactly be respectful to the other guilds who've fought hard to make it here. You should know that as well as anyone, Koga," remarked Yuna, the blonde-haired Aquila Saint seated beside him.

Yuna and Koga shared a profound bond forged through numerous life-threatening situations. Though she harbored deeper feelings for him, she remained committed to her duties as a saint of Athena. Accompanying them were their fellow Silver Saints: Ryuho of Dragon, Soma of Lionet, Eden of Orion, and Sonia of Scorpio. Nearby sat the higher-ranked Gold Saints: Sagittarius Seiya, Virgo Fudo, Libra Shiryu, Aries Kiki, Taurus Harbinger, and Gemini Integra—six survivors of the twelve original Gold Saints who had endured battles against the God of War, Mars, and subsequent conflicts with the Goddess Pallas and the God of Time, Saturn.

Koga and his companions had attained Silver Saint status following their heroic accomplishments and mastery of cosmos energy, reaching the unprecedented Omega level. They smiled with pride observing the Games, recalling how several Dragon's Dawn members had previously trained with them to develop their current abilities.

The tournament scoreboard displayed the current standings:

Dragon's Dawn: 67 points

Fairy Tail: 45 points

Sabertooth: 38 points

Lamia Scale: 35 points

Meanwhile, at the arena's center, Laxus Dreyar of Fairy Tail, Orga Nanogear of Sabertooth, and Jura Neekis of Lamia Scale prepared to engage in combat. Their confrontation was interrupted by an orb of black flames that landed between them, dispersing to reveal Kazuma Ayakashi from Dragon's Dawn.

"I'd like to join in if you all don't mind?" the crimson-eyed, black-haired teenager proposed with a smirk.

Though the others accepted his presence, Laxus remained wary, sensing Kazuma's formidable magical power.

Elsewhere in the arena, Gray Fullbuster of Fairy Tail battled Rufus Lore, Sabertooth's memory-make wizard. Despite an initially challenging encounter with Rufus's versatile memory-make magic, Gray persevered after numerous setbacks. When he removed his shirt—a signal recognized by Fairy Tail members as his commitment to fight seriously—the tide began to turn.

"I told you, that won't work," Rufus declared confidently as Gray prepared another spell.

Gray merely smirked before unleashing an unexpected technique: "Ice Make... Unlimited!"

Rufus's eyes widened in shock as his magic failed to keep pace with Gray's accelerated ice-molding. "My memory can't keep up. How or when did his ice magic become so fast?!" he questioned internally.

Gray completed his devastating attack: "Ice Make... Dance of Chaos!"

The spell enveloped Rufus in ice, though he managed to counter with "Memory Make... Karma of the Burning Earth," creating flames to melt his icy prison. However, Gray emerged unscathed from the flames, declaring, "Yeah? Well, I remember flames that are much hotter than that," before casting his final spell: "Ice Make Bringer!"

Dual ice swords materialized as Gray struck Rufus, defeating him decisively. As a trophy of his victory, Gray claimed Rufus's feathered hat, prompting thunderous applause from the crowd.

"Gray has defeated Rufus! Victory goes to Fairy Tail!" announced Chapati, the commentator.

The updated scoreboard now showed:

Dragon's Dawn: 67 Points

Fairy Tail: 55 Points

Sabertooth: 38 points

Lamia Scale: 35 Points

Back at the central arena, Kazuma addressed Orga: "Well Orga, looks like your teammate was defeated by Fairy Tail. There are only two of you tigers left, and I have to wonder... what will you do now?"

Orga recognized his guild's precarious position but remained resolute. He challenged Jura first, only to be swiftly incapacitated by a single chop to the head, further diminishing Sabertooth's standing.

Jura then turned to Laxus, who initially suffered a similar fate but recovered to deliver a counterblow to Jura's chin. "You may be a wizard saint, but don't think you can look down on others," Laxus warned.

Intrigued by this development, Kazuma proposed: "Why don't we make this more interesting? We can see who will defeat Jura first, and whoever strikes the final blow gets full credit for his defeat."

Laxus accepted the challenge with a nod and fist bump. Closing his eyes momentarily, he recalled Natsu's characteristic phrase when facing formidable opponents. As lightning emanated from his clenched fist, Laxus thought to himself: "I'm all fired up..."

With tensions escalating and guild rivalries intensifying, the Grand Magic Games had reached a critical juncture. Which guild would ultimately prevail remained uncertain, but the spectacle of magical prowess continued to captivate everyone in attendance.

To be continued in chapter 10: Fall of the Tigers finale- Elimination; Koga vs Sting!

Hey guys, Novablade here. Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! If i didn't get the gray vs rufus fight exact i do apologize. Tried to make it as close as i could from what i can remember of it lol. I'm not the best at detailing fights as I've said before so forguve me if you find it lacking. Thinking next chapter for the first half i'll focus on sting and his opponent for the most part, then I'll switch to Laxus and Kazuma vs Jura. That fight will be just a little different as it won't be a true teamup if you read this chapter lol.
