I have dreaded this day for a while. When we pull up a few kids turn to look before realizing it's me. I hear a few talk about my dad and I then realize no one will be able to say anything behind my back because of my new hearing. I get out ignoring the stares, while I'm not popular my dad is and with school everything is gossip. I almost throttle an elf girl who said my dad abandoned me for a lady and fled to the tropics. I try and look like I can't hear them. I finally get to the dean's office. I go to knock on the door when the secretary walks in and says he's talking with one of the teachers. As I sit and wait I look around the administration hallway looks better than before. I'm surprised they could afford any kind of touch up. Finally the dean walked up looked at me and sighed. This was a new dean, and he reluctantly called me into his office.
"what do you want, you can't just join our school halfway through the year."He says sharply.
"actually I'm not a student I'm the gym coach" I replied looking him dead in the eyes.
"miss aspin im sorry but that spot is no longer open" he said. "now leave before I call security.
"I was garenteed my job when I left, the contract" I started.
"ended when your father passed as in the contract it started as long as you were taking care of him you were garenteed a job" he snapped back "now leave".
I left trying not to cry as I pushed through the foot traffic to the front door.
It had been a miracle and a half that I even got this job. I was so oblivious that I didn't notice when I took a wrong turn until I was in an ally. Turning around I return to the street, but not before getting hit over the head with something.
