The Lizard Maid, as usual, pushed a cart stacked with freshly ironed sheets through the side door into the castle. The clatter of high heels on the stone pavement turned silent as they met the dark red carpet upon entering the corridor.
Other Lizard Maids, carrying burlap and buckets or sundries, passed by without any exchange, walking to the end of the corridor beside the garden and disappearing around the corner.
Unlike the usual delivery of clothes, this Lizard Maid took a slightly longer route to reach the rarely visited west side of the castle.
The Bat Guards, like statues at the crossroads, twitched their fur-covered ears, following the passing Lizard Maid and the movement of the cart.
A corridor extending outside the castle greeted the waiting Lizard Maid, who picked up the sheets and headed deeper into the corridor, leaving the Bat Guards' perception.
