In the Ailen Peninsula, known for its standard humid climate, there is always a period of drizzly, damp, and gloomy weather before the long rainy season sets in.
Enervated plants grow slowly due to lack of sunlight. Walls, clothes, bedding, and anything organic will mildew. Clothes and fish hung up to dry will never dry out. They either mold and grow patches of hair, or rot and spawn "crew members."
No one likes the rainy season. Even children, who find everything fascinating, don't like it—it means endless overcast skies, damp bedding, and uncomfortable illnesses.
But in The Dark Era, even the rainy season is precious and worth cherishing.
