As they treaded slowly forward. A piercing aura bloomed from the palace. They immediately raised their guard and took on a defensive positions.
"Haha... kids, no need to be so careful. There is no traps in my palace or anything that will danger you." A robust voice of laughter echoed from within.
"Ay! What the hell?" Hale asked, as he jumped up with shock. At the entrance was a ghostly figure that was pale-white and glowed with some radiance.
Dia looked forward and saw a strong man in garments and a wide furry robe drenched on his shoulders that tipped towards the ground. He had a black crown on his head.
But what was weird was that she could see through him, he was transparent and he hovered above the ground.
"A remnant soul." Eggy stated with a bit of fear and hint of excitement. She did not know why this remnant soul seeked from them.
"Do not worry child, I'm not ghostly or have any evil intentions. My aura is clean." The remnant soul said with a smiley face.
"Okay. What's your name sir?" Eggy asked with a more casual look. She knows that this remnant soul is not lying. Because what he said was true. You could distinguish between a ramnant soul and a ghostly soul by their aura.
A ghostly soul had more of an evil aura because they weild evil spells, and have strange ancient formations that courses through their body to encompass the spell used for possessions of a living body and much more. This figure of soul has none of that.
"Haha you children are so strong at such a young age, I'm impressed!" The figure chuckled with delight as he avoided the personal question.
"I lead you all here so you can accompany me. Well to be more exact I want to give you all something before I perform the last rites and leave this world." The remnant soul said with a bit of sadness. Now his face had hints of sorrow as if leaving this world is but a terrible thing to do.
"..."
"Okay man, you can do what you want but don't even think of harming one of us! Otherwise we will go all out and destroy your last essence!" Hale said while taking a fighting stance, readying himself for a battle.
"Hale don't be so rude! This uncle is nice." Eggy said with a cute look, trying to see what this remnant soul is up to.
"..." Diana was speechless just staring at the remnant soul.
"Haha... young man. You are quite a funny one. But I really have no evil intentions. I am just lonely. I spent a couple of hundred years hovering within my ruined palace all alone. I was once a majestic King that ruled the three kingdoms and twelve Majestic Cities of Everlight. Now I have nothing left, but I remain here awaiting for someone. Someone special. Which is you three."
The majestic figured came closer but he did not leave the palace. As he seemed afraid of the sunlight that blazed upon the palace. Not wanting to get his soul essence burned.
"Okay what do you want to give us? This entire place is weird. From the forest till this palace. I asked my self countless times, 'Why would Mother send us to such a troublesome place without any reason or warning?'. " Dia said with an arousal of suspicion.
"Actually I cut off the Mana pathway you were traveling from. There is only five Mana pathways that few spatial portals is linked with in this land. And for a long time no spatial portal pathway ever came flickering on. So I interrupted it and wanted to see who was it. I never imagined that three children would appear. Someone among you, must be really strong to cast an ancient spatial portal spell." The majestic figure said with a bit of delight.
"..." Dia, Hale and Eggy just listened on and started thinking with craze, that they had no way to depart to the place that Mother appointed them.
"This must be faith that brought us here. I always wanted to leave my fortune with someone young. Must be my last flare of luck." The figure continued with his charismatic talk.
"You old foggy. You destroyed the spatial portal that we supposed to use. How are we supposed to go back?" Dia asked with a bit of anger and indignance. She really was worried about Diana and wanted to go to the place that was appointed to them but now everything seems lost.
"Fortune... what fortune? If you don't want it, you can let me keep it for you..." Hale said with an enchanted look on his face.
"Old man, although you obstinance irks me. I hope you have a solution, that we can use to travel on our original spatial pathway. So we can get to our appointed destination." Eggy said with a smile like this old man's inconvenience was nothing to her but an opportunity.
