Chapter 19 - The Siege of Atlantis (Part 2)

Supergirl:

Screaming as I hit him with my heat vision, Bane raises his hand to try blocking it. However, in that moment, when he isn't looking at me, I throw a left hook, hitting Bane in his side. He screams again, and lowering his hand to try and hit me, but I move faster, throwing a stronger right hook that throws Bane into the air. Screaming as he flies, I watch as Bane hits a wall, breaking it. Debris from the broken wall falls onto him after he falls onto the floor.

"Dios mio," Bane says, moaning as he pushes himself up. "It seems la senorita had learned some new moves."

"What can I say?" I ask while putting up my fists. "I have a lot of teachers, including one with a pair of sunglasses."

Shaking off the extra dust and rocks, Bane brings up his own fists before charging toward me. However, as Bane is running, I use my freeze breath to cover the floor in ice. Bane starts sliding across it, unable to stop. Still charging toward me, I shoot out my hands and rocket toward him. Hitting him directly in the stomach, Bane is once again thrown back into the wall.

Rocketing toward him again, Bane sees me coming and slams his hands together. Jumping up, he slams them down toward me. Stopping in mid-air, I raise my hands and catch his. Bane yells as he tries to push down, but he does, I push Bane's hands to the side. Bane hits the floor instead of me. Spinning around, I hit Bane with my elbow, stunning him before throwing a straight punch, knocking the wind out of him. Not giving him a second to catch his breath, I start throwing punch after punch, knocking Bane around before using my heat vision on his venom tube.

Falling to his hands and knees, Bane looks back and sees me lasering his tubes.

"Ha! La senorita had gotten better at fighting, but still does not listen. I told you! My tubing had been reinforced. It cannot be cut so easily."

"I remember," I say, still lasering Bane's tubes. "But I'm not trying to cut it. I'm trying to overheat it."

"Que?"

As I keep burning Bane's tubes, the venom flowing through them starts to bubble. Bane realizes what I'm doing and pushes himself up. He screams and tries to shut off his venom tube, but it's too late. The superheated venom is now flowing through Bane's body. He stumbles and yells before streaming, white smoke rising from his body.

"No. No! No!"

Bane tries to lunge at me, but halfway, he falls onto the floor.

As I stare at the unconscious Bane, his tubes still filled with boiling venom, I turn and look at his venom regulator on his wrist. Bending down, I grab the regulator and crush it with my bare hand, the thing breaking into dozens of tiny pieces. The venom then stops flowing.

"Like I said, I have a lot of teachers. I'm not the same person I was last time we met."

Looking back at the throne room's doors, I jump into the air and rocket toward them. Bursting through the set of heavy golden doors, I'm about to reach our makeshift sick bay and the Junker when the whole hallway shakes. Landing on the floor, I crouch down and look around.

Everywhere I look, I see nothing but bad news. The glass that makes up the hallway is covered in cracks, with water already leaking through. The walls are covered in scratch marks, scorch marks, or bullet holes. The floor is covered in destroyed beta parts. I place my finger against my earpiece.

"Everyone! This is Supergirl. Where are you!"

"I don't know," Barry answers, "I'm in a room fighting Felix Faust!"

"Felix Faust! The sorcerer?"

"Yeah! Ahhh!"

"Barry? Barry!"

I have no choice but to listen to Barry as he screams, before hearing a loud thud.

"Blondie," Harleen yells, cutting in. "Blue Beetle, Firestorm, and I are protecting the sicked fishes!"

"Oh, thank you. Are they okay? Are you three okay? Where is everyone else? Do you know where The Man is? Is he---"

"Hey, hey, hey, calm down. Calm down. Breath, breath, breath. I know we're in a life-or-death situation right now, but still, that's no excuse for bombarding me with questions. First things first. How are you doing? Fine? I hope so."

"I'm fine, Harleen. Bane is down."

"Oh, that's awesome! Honestly, I always hated that guy. Even before all of this."

"Harleen. Where is everyone?"

"Oh, I have no idea. Jaime, Jason, Professor Stein, and I stayed behind to protect the fish people while the others rushed to hold off the attacking soldiers and betas. Honestly, they could be anywhere."

"We're still here," Slades says, his end screaming with gunshots. "I don't know about everyone else, but I'm here with Selina and Leonard. We're holding our own against some soldiers."

"We're here too," Dinah cuts in, "I'm with Pam. I think we're somewhere south of sick bay, but I can't be too sure."

"I'm here too," Barry adds, groaning. "Felix Faust is down, and I'm freeing Oliver, Cheetah, and Red Hood. I have no idea where we are."

"Wait, is that everyone?"

I start counting my fingers.

"Harleen. Slade. Dinah. Barry....What about The Man? Has anyone heard from him recently?"

"No."

"I'm afraid not."

"Haven't heard from Sunglasses since he went for a dive."

My knees start shaking, and I have to place one of my hands on the wall to steady myself.

"None of you has heard anything from him?"

"Again. Haven't heard from Sunglasses since he went for a dive. You can't call him?"

"I'm trying, but he's not answering."

"I'm surprised, given how close you two are."

"Harleen!"

I feel my face getting hot, and there's this weird feeling in my chest. Shaking my head, I press my fingers against my earpiece.

"Okay. Harleen, you, Jaime, and Firestorm keep Aquaman and the Atlanteans safe. I'll look for The Man while pushing back the soldiers and betas."

"Got it, Blondie. Over and out."

Lowering my hands, I use my X-ray vision and scan the hallways.

"This is worse than I thought."

As I look into and through Atlantis's hallways, I see countless soldiers and betas storming the kingdom. I turn to the ocean, looking through the cracked window without my X-ray vision. I see more and more submarines surrounding Atlantis, firing and hitting more glass domes, many of them on the verge of breaking, and sending pods filled with soldiers and betas.

Stepping back, I look around again.

"Come on. Come on! Where are you? Where are you?"

The Man:

"Arrgghhh!"

Putting my hands together, I then slam them onto the back of a One Earth Soldier, simultaneously raising one of my knees. Forcing the air out of his body, I throw his unconscious body to the side, alongside his other fallen squad members.

About to leave to find Kara and the others, I stop when I smell something. Sniffing the air, I take a deep inhale and smell something burning and smoking. I follow the scent to the soldier I just knocked out. Removing the soldier's helmet, I watch as long, yellow, almost glowing hair flows down. Instead of a regular Earthing, I see a bright-yellow-skinned, female alien in One Earth body armor.

"A Kharytnite? Impossible. The Kharytnite were one of the alien species Brainaic captured on his ship before wiping them out. Why would one of them be here...."

As I begin to piece together the puzzle, I hear footsteps and push myself up. Hearing the sound of an arm cannon warming up, a single ball of energy shoots out from a nearby hallway. Shooting out my hands, my swords appear out of thin air. Pushing the button, the blades shooting out, I spin my sword and deflect the blast.

"Cyborg," I shout.

"The man in the sunglasses," Cyborg yells back, stepping out of the hallway with a smoking arm cannon. "I'm surprised to see you here, thought I guess I really shouldn't be."

"I'm surprised to see you here. Isn't the salt water bad for your circuits?"

Cyborg raises his arm cannon and fires off a few more blasts, a few more weak blasts, at me, but I deflect all of them. Even if I didn't, his attacks wouldn't have been enough to knock me down. Swinging my sword, I throw his final blast into the ground, the blue energy ball dispensing the second it hits the metal floor.

"What are you doing, Victor? I know your power level. You can shoot stronger than that, even if you only have ten percent power left."

"You know me so well," Cyborg starts, "And yet, no matter how hard I looked, I can't seem to find anything about you. Well, I should say no matter how hard we looked."

Stepping into the hallway, beside Cyborg, is Batman.
