Chapter 25 - The Return of Darth Slayer

The Man:

Arriving at Central City in only a few minutes, I get up from the pilot's seat and walk over to the holographic table. Pushing a button and turning it on, I watch as a holographic projection of Earth appears. On the hovering, blue Earth, I see two bright red dots moving fast across the Atlantic Ocean toward Central City.

"Proxy-2. Based on Android's speed, how long before he arrived?"

"Based on the Android's constant speed," Proxy-2 starts, "The Android, along with Harleen and Aquaman, should be here in less than five minutes."

"Okay. Thank you. Proxy-2, please activate the "Darth Slayer" protocol."

I turn and walk over to an empty wall. I wait for the protocol to begin and the wall to open, but for some reason, Proxy-2 isn't opening it.

"Proxy-2. Please activate the "Darth Slayer" protocol."

"Sir. Are you sure? Before, you asked me never to--"

I cut off Proxy-2 before he could finish.

"I know what I said, Proxy-2. Activate the Darth Slayer protocol. Now."

Proxy-2 stays quiet for a few seconds before he talks again.

"Understood."

The wall splits open. Light pours into the hidden space, revealing my old Darth Slayer armor, mask, cape, and dozens of lightsabers. The armor is pitch-black and accented with shining, silver lines. The cape is also pitch-black on the outside and red on the inside. The mask itself is an even darker black, and a visor in the shape of a pair of sunglasses.

Breathing in and out, in and out, fingernails digging into the palms of my hands, I take one final exhale before slowly putting on the armor and cape over my jacket and pants. Sliding on the gloves and boots, I take one last look at the mask.

"Proxy-2. Please look away."

"Sir. Understood."

Hearing a beep, signaling that Proxy-2 is offline at the moment, I take off my sunglasses and put on the helmet. Turning around, looking at the Shadow's window, I see my reflection.

I hear another beep, signaling that Proxy-2 is back online.

"Are you okay, sir?"

"I'm fine, Proxy-2."

Turning back, I grab my two lightsabers from the space. Looking at them, and then at the other lightsabers, the ones I took from fallen Siths, I place my lightsabers in my belt before pocketing all the others, placing them inside my cape.

"Proxy-2. Keep the Rogue Shadow in the air. Once I find and rescue Harleen and Aquaman, we'll need immediate pickup. Keep track of me through my communicator."

"Understood."

Leaving the cockpit and heading to the exit, I grab and pull the lever, watching as the starship's door lowers itself. Standing on the ramp and looking down, I see Superman's ocean headquarters. A massive building, looking a lot like a hangar with the half-circle top, is surrounded by hundreds of betas, One Earth soldiers, and even League assassins. The building is accompanied by rows and rows of boats and submarines in the water next to it. Turning slightly, I see a large reinforced gate sliding open and a dozen trucks driving in. Jumping off the Shadow's door and flipping in the air, I fall toward the ground.

Darth Slayer:

Slamming down on the ground, cracks appearing beneath my foot and knee, I throw my hand onto it a few seconds later and unleash a massive force shockwave. The shockwave travels outward, hitting and throwing all the soldiers, betas, assassins, and even the trucks into the air.

"Intruder," a soldier yells while pushing himself up. "Intruder in the base!"

"Shoot him," another soldier shouts, raising his submachine gun. However, before he can shoot, I shoot my hand out first. Hitting the soldier with a force push and knocking him back, I grab and pull my lightsabers from my belt. Bright red, burning beams shoot out from the hilts. Seeing a beta drone running toward me, I spin around and slice the beta into two, the two halves falling to the ground.

"Surround him," a soldier orders as more soldiers and betas pour out from the main building and onto the courtyard. The soldiers who pour out are armed with either machine guns or rocket launchers. Meanwhile, jumping off ledges or appearing in smoke clouds, assassins with swords, bows, and arrows join them.

"Argghhh!"

I scream as I shoot out my hands, unleashing another force push that knocks all of them back. Assassins recover faster than the soldiers and betas. They line up with arrows loaded into their bows and fire at me. Swinging my lightsabers, I block all of their arrows, destroying them before shooting each assassin with lightning. Falling to the ground, smoking like cooked ham, I shoot my hand into the air and use all the power of the Force to summon a lightning storm.

Lightning bolts rain down. They hit boats, submarines, and even betas, and all of them are immediately destroyed. Seeing the storm and the lightning bolts, the soldiers and assassins quickly run inside the main building.

Spinning my lightsabers as I approach the building's giant, steel doors, I stop before them and place my hands together. Raw powers from the Force gather between my hands. Waiting until it's more than enough, I throw the power at the doors.

One Earth Soldier:

"Ahhh!"

We all scream as the steel doors are somehow blown off their hinges. They fly through the air and almost crush a few of us. Turning back to the entrance, I see the silhouette of a man basking in an eerie red glow.

Walking into the hallway, we watch as the betas charge first. Running with their hands extended and their grappling hook ready to shoot, the intruder uses some sort of magic or special power to lift them into the air. Spinning and swinging his red laser swords, the intruder cuts most of the betas in half, their bodies sparking as the halves fall to the ground. Assassins are next.

Assassins from the League rush toward the armored intruder with their swords drawn, but he, she, or it shoots out their hands. The assassins in front stop running. They slam their hands against their heads and scream.

"They are not your allies," the intruder says. "Quickly! Attack them before they can attack you."

"Ahhhh!"

Without any warning, the assassins who had their hands against their heads turn around and start attacking the other assassins and even us soldiers. I see sparks jumping as swords clash against each other.

"Soldiers," someone shouts. Turning, I see Nightwing standing behind us, armed with his batons. He points at the armored intruder as it gets closer and closer to us. "Shoot him! Shoot him now!"

"You heard him," I yell, "Open fire!"

What few of us soldiers are left gather up and make two lines. The soldiers in front drop to their knees while the rest of us behind them stand. Raising our machine guns and lining up the shot, we all fire. However, as we shoot at the intruder, it reaches for something behind it.

Grabbing, pulling, and throwing out what look like silver colored sword hilts from its cape, the hilts hover in the air, before bright, colorful beams shoot out from them all at once. As we shoot, the hilts and the beams all spin incredibly fast. I watch as our bullets hit the beams, but don't deflect or fall to the ground. Instead, they're destroyed and turn into molten bits of metal before our very eyes. I see little bits of smoke appear, and then orange and black scraps littering the floor.

We keep shooting and shooting until our guns run dry, and all we hear are clicking sounds.

"Reload," I yell, reaching for another magazine, but before any of us can replace the empty magazine, the intruder shoots out his hands. Lightning bolts fly out and electrocuting us. I scream and shout as my body shakes and burns.

Darth Slayer:

Knocking out the last soldiers with force lightning, I focus my attention on Nightwing as he bends his knees and holds out his escrima sticks.

"What the hell are you supposed to be?" Nightwing asks. Reaching for his utility belt, Nightwing throws a birdarang at me, but using the Force, I catch the stupid thing and throw it to the side.

"My name is Darth Slayer," I answer. Shooting out my hand, I grab Nightwing's throat and pull him in close. Dropping his sticks as I drag him through the air, Nightwing grabs his throat. He starts rubbing and hitting his throat, like he's trying to find my hand and pry it off. Unfortunately for him, I'm not using my hand.

"Nightwing. Professor Ivo's Amazo Android. Tell me about him. Now!"
