Trixy's Pov
The space for waiting outside the emergency room felt like it was the coldest place from where I could be found in any of the places. Right above us, the bright, sterile light was giving off its silent but very clear humming. But it was more than them, it was the silence between Zyron and me that stung, the most. He was sitting hunched there, his elbows digging into his knees while with one hand he held his forehead, just like it was under the burden of the whole world.
I really wanted to know what was the matter but the moment I started to speak he lifted his head. His eyes were not the self-confident and reassuring ones that they always were. They looked heavy, packed with guilt. Slowly, he reached out, took my hands in his shaky ones, and said with a breaking voice,
"I never thought it would come to this."
Not getting the idea at once I said, "She fainted, yes. But she will get better, right? The doctor said she is stable now."
