The waves crash was still going systematically into the ear canal of my brain when sitting there alongside Trixy on the beach, being the moonlights silver rays over the water. Her cheek laid gently on my upper arm, her fingertips still exploring the small charm of the chain that I had just given her.
Not to mention that the necklace stood for more than just being silver and a string—it meant my commitment. My soul. My guarantee that whatever happened, no matter how many mistakes I had made in the past, she would never have to question my feelings again.
The moment she smiled between her tears and let me put it on her neck, I felt an emptiness within me fill up - like the painful longing I had been carrying with me for years, had finally found its abode.
However, as we slowly gotten up now, walking back to where the lights of the resort and her family's anniversary party were still shining, the heaviness of our shared moment was still lurking in my mind.
